Bought the Wire+ for my 04 Chopper

My dog is trying to crap a 3rd EHC turd so I bought the wire+. We really need to have long and dependable rides. Thanks Jake!

Gonna have some fun. Probably get er done over the next two weeks, a little at a time.

Anybody have a way to crimp the formed deutsch sockets, not the stamped socket with the two tabs? The good crimper costs up to $400! I've had crimped connections fail before so I‘ll probably use my regular crimper and a dab of solder.

Still gotta buy some stuff for a clean install- braided sleeves, mini deutsch connector for the ignition switch, etc.

Will get some pics going after I get it on the rack. How’s your bike comin’ Alhall?

Hey does anyone have a pic under the seat of an 04 chopper after the wire + install?

I have some at work but need them there, if you do not find any other offers you can send me your harness/terminals and I can crimp them and send it back to ya. Send me a PM if you need my help and we can discuss the details.

Do you have a close up pic of what you're wanting to crimp? Looking at the pic of the pins in thread about removing your EHC from what I can tell a Molex style crimper would do the job just fine and run you about $20. Even if that's not the case you can get a decent crimper for most styles for a lot less than $400...

Afterall, it's not an aircraft! :D

Mine is working fine although I have not taken it out for a ride, everything works. Its a tight fit for the fender pocket but it works.Follow the 2004 ehc thread and see a couple other pics.

Nighttrain: Dude- compliments on your generosity but I'd have to remove the bulk of the harness to get it to you. I'd rather crimp the connectors as I pull them one by one from the EHC. Thanks though

DRB: The socket looks like this. It's what wire+ gives you through Jake's website. Just thought someone might have a decent crimper to recommend for these that don't cost an arm and leg.

Al! How goes it? You sent me that software awhile back. As you know it was useless for changing stuff. I gotta change that ignition module, maybe next year a Dyna 2000. I've been following Jake's thread on the 2004 EHC. Your install under the seat looks pretty clean that pic was what i needed. Hope mine turns out as well. Keep ya posted. Thanks.

This crimper works pretty good for those pins. I used the actual Deutsch tool for my bike, but did a couple other pins for my ignition switch with this tool. Worked great:

Hand Tools > Crimping Tools > Crimping Tools > Crimping Tool,10-22AWG,Non-Insulated : Grainger Industrial Supply

You are going to have the coil assembly off and really this would be the time to do the ignition change. Just thinking....

It's time. Getting warmer here in Salt Lake and I'm cleaning the winter junk from my garage manspace today for my wireplus conversion. I really need a garage heater so I can do more stuff in the winter- they are so freakin nice, friend has one. So, I think I'll change out my ignition module to a programable one but I had a few questions cause I don't know jack about ignition modules-but I'm learnin. I really wanted to use the T-heart programable one but I can't because my chop is an 2004 stock 107 so it's a dual fire. I want to get a module that I can change on the fly or with a laptop. I also want to go with a product that vtwin techs are familiar with if/when I fine tune it so I guess my best choices are either the Dynatek 2ki or Crane Hi4. If this is right, does anyone prefer one or the other? Gary

I don't know anything about the Crane model although the future seems grim for that company. :(

On the other hand I've had a Dyna single fire system on my Harley since 1994 and it's been flawless! :2thumbs:

Leaning towards the Dyna2k after what I read about Crane. The Dyna will work with the 2004 107 right? Is there any performance advantage if I switch to single fire or just keep the stock dual fire coil? Trying to upgrade ignition but not overdo it- already over budget. I might even have to sell the youngest soon. What do you think?

being you have an 04 it should have a cam sensor. open the timing cover to check. if yes then match up the wire diagram in the link i posted to your BD wire diagram in your service manual.

done deal.

I would go with the dynatech, and just put it in the nosecone where your stock unit is. Pick up a single fire coil at the same time. That way since you'll have everything down it will be an easy switch.

Thanks Al I agree, I'll do the Dyna 2ki but I'll use a single coil single fire to keep it the mounting simpler. FWIW- Here's a story aboout single vs dual. Little boring but the point made at the end is if going to build it, go SINGLE! The pics are nice too.

Single? Dual? Choose your Spark!

Actually, if you use just one coil you'll still have a dual-fire ignition. You need a second coil if you want a single fire ignition unless the coil you use has single fire capabilities... :)

Hey DR, As MARV says, your bike is single fire and you only have one coil.
Just need a three lead coil vice two connections.
