bike dies at idle or low rpm

recently put on s&s dual runner intake and big city thunder baffles, did rejetting and test rides and everything seemed good. went on a 600 mile round trip ride Saturday from Enid OK to Dallas and back, south of okc we got up around 80 and pulling hills and it started cutting out a little so we backed down to 75 and ran fine, figure I need to go up on main jet still. anyways, got to dallas no problem and back to okc, outside of okc only 80 miles from home we slow down for the exit ramp and the bike just dies. pulled in clutch, hit run and then start an it started back up. does this several more times, setting at lights or around 2000 -2500 rpm cruising it would just die, doesn't really stutter or stumble just hesitates once and dies. made sure I was full of fuel, found if I kept it at 3000 rpm it would run and not die so I did that to get it home. today, changed spark plugs, old ones still looked decent, slight black but not wet or dark enough to foul out. checked fuel screen and tank for liner pieces, all looks good. pulled carb apart and checked everything, no torn seals or gaskets, all clean. started and sprayed around intake manifold and carb with carb cleaner, no sign of air leaks. same dang problem though, try to go and within a couple of minutes of warming up it starts it crap, barely even started at the gas station, pulled up the enrichner and it would start and run. push it down it sputtered and died. finally got going and made it home. at slow speeds right when its dying it will cough and sneeze in the carb, like around 20-30mph I can hear it. currently running 32 intermediate jet and 76 main with stock air bleed. 09 k-9 117, 15,000 miles. any ideas or suggestions. sorry for the long post, just wanted to explain the problem and what I have tried.

Battery cannections were tight, will test the battery tonight, its only 5 months old. How do I test the charging system, although by the way its turning over really good and strong I'm doubting its battery related.

Maybe the voltage regulator. Check your voltage at the battery when running. Possible that you are having to turn 3k to get the need voltage from it.

Check the pins in the JST connector on the ignition module. I had a pin back out once and it acted like that.

Okie ... what jets are you running

32 int. 76 main, 40 air bleed. I think I'm around 700 sea level. Plugs looked slightly black but no carbon buildup or wet.

Okie.. your main and intermediate jets should work fine .. but i recommend bumping up your air bleed to .050" .. I had a few problems when I installed my Dual Runner... stalling cutting out etc.. I rebuilt my carb and changed my air bleed to .050" and haven't had any problems.

I'm running a .076" main .032 intermediate and .050" air bleed and I have my idle metering screw at 2-1/4 turns out.

If your plugs and wires are good you shouldn't have any issues when your idling, unless your idling metering circuit is not adjusted properly or clogged / obstructed.

remove your idling metering screw and visually inspect for wear (groove), then get some carburetor spray and spray inside the idle metering passage way to clear any obstruction. re-install the idle metering screw .... screw it in until is seats than back it out 2 full turns ... once it warms up you can fine tune the adjustment

Checked the idle fuel/air screw the other day but will pull it again and check it and spray carb cleaner on this time. Checked the battery and charging system and it all checked good. Was gonna check the crank sensor just to test it but had to leave. Is it the 2 wire plug with brown and white wires?

got back home and tested the crank sensor, its good. EHC lights show to be lighting up correctly and when they are suppose to. I have a crazy thought and seen other people have this problem, what about the gas cap vent?? higher rpm was causing enough suction to force it through, low rpm couldn't cause enough suction and starved for fuel? possibly, maybe?? will try riding with loose or no gas cap tomorrow after I get home from work and see if anything changes.

pulling the idle fuel/air mix screw and cleaning it and its port with carb cleaner seemed to do the trick. took it out and rode around town and highways for an hour and never had a problem. could still use a little tuning with the air bleed jet but its at least running again.

Run some Seafoam thru the gas as well. It does wonders.

I use that shit in everything!
