Newb, but an old newb. Never had any issues with my 05' Pitbull until recently (other than the '05 starter issues). Now the maintained start/run button on the board located next to the throttle grip is disengaging at very inopportune times. I'm an electronics engineer and understand the nature of PCB's and micro switches and after inspecting this one I'm really suprised it lasted as long as it has. My question is, is it worth it to replace the stock assembly or just bypass it with a Spyke starter push button?
Also, any links to Bigdog electrical schematics, electronic substitution parts, or software? I might as well start researching because components are starting to reach their usable limits. Thanks.

Just checked out JP and a few others and apparently my starter doesn't have a compatible Spyke starter switch. All I'm finding is a specialty switch for $130.

You will get tired of starting your bike with a slam button.
They are really only for emergency situations.

Spyke Slam Button
X2. I have had one on every bike I have ever owned since they came out but only used them a few times. They are down under the right side so you have to try to use your left hand, bend over and push it all the while using your right hand to work the throttle or get off the bike and squat down. Then they sometimes get stuck and what a mess.

Get your button fixed (Curtis can help).... or just add a starter button on the coil cover and wire it up to the ECH with a relay.

I have come to the conclusion that replacing the original switch is the way to go. Didn't think about the bending over part until BadDawg brought it up. Thanks.
