He told me that he checked the stator, and had 22v ac at idle, but when he rived it up, it went to 40v. Ever hear of anything like that.
I know when Ricks VR went out, it was putting 23v ac through out the bike and fried everything.
Now he saying it's back firing even with the VR disconnected.
Yea...40v AC is a touch high but hardly an issue the VR SHOULD still be able to put out the 14.4v. I really doubt that's the issue.

If it was running before the VR swap and after...unless it was hooked up wrong I really can't imagine any further failed electrical components and not just the then ignition.

Once he confirms 14.4v or so at idle....needs to start looking at a different issue could just be bad gas, cause after the swap he rode it fine for a little while.

Mr. Wright

Knows some things
It has me puzzled, because it was running fine before the VR swap. And it keeps tripping the circuit breaker.
What happens to the VR when it doesn't have a good ground? Will it not charge, or will it not change it to DC and drop the voltage?

Well everyone I got the bike up and running! It was combo of crappy gas, I guess I mounted the ground wire wrong, and fouled plugs. Fired her up last night and tested and re tested everything and the k9 is running perfectly.

Big thank you to everyone, and thank you Shannon for always picking up your phone and helping a fella out.

Thank you everyone.

RETIRED
Well, rode about 250 miles on the bike today! Met up with the old man and rode another 100 with him. It was a wonderful day
Glad you got it fixed. Why is the clutch cable crossing the top of the frame and running down the right side downtube? Just curious.
