Big Dog might be gone

I was at the Big Dog factory last Friday and there were NO new big dogs on the show room floor at the factory. Now Brian who was still there at the time has been let go. This may be the last place for those of us that ride Big Dogs to find help with our bikes. May I suggest to everyone who uses this forum to become a supporting member and help keep this site up.

I have read that the new bikes are built per order so BDM probably isn't going to have anything sitting around waiting to be sold. If this is true then I would rather see it done this way for BDM to stay afloat then see 5 new 2010 sitting in a showrom. No doubt it is tough times for the factory. Just hope they can pull through.

Yep, built-to-order. From what I hear, they call back former employees to build X number of bikes, then tell them to go home. I know a few guys that never got paid.

Just did the $25 to be a supporter. Maybe I should reword that...:whoop:
Because I'm not sure I want to referred to as a biker's supporter....
Anyhow LONG LIVE BDBF

As an avid promoter of Bigdog I'm always willing to answer questions and act decent towards those who show interest in BDM. If we talk down our own bikes it's sure to make an impact on the companys reputation more than you may think.

Now is the time to give the support!

I just found a 2008 Brand New Ridgeback for $19,900 and I was about to buy it, I question it now due to them going under and the resale value going to crap!
The dealer is wanting his bikes gone and maybe this is why??

But what will happen to the current sales prices - used / new ???

I'm still looking for a K9 or 08+ Pitbull for < 20000 $. Want to have one in autumn / winter. I'll sell my Rocker C in that time........

The BD are great bikes - never saw the power of an S&S combined with the awsome design, that BD stands for .

No doubt times are tough but keeping a positive attitude on the forum can only help BD. The great product that has brought everyone together here is what makes this forum rock! My Road King's resale has tanked in the last few years but when I'm riding it's the last thing I think about. At the end of the day it's about the wind in our face and our knees in the breeze.:2thumbs:

On the other side of the coin; it is possible that the value of our used BDM could increase in value. Because of the lack of new bikes. My first option would be for BDM to stay in the black, and produce many more GREAT motorcycles.

I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea I love my big dog period. If I had a chance to buy another one I would in a heartbeat. I have 6000 miles on mine and it's not even a year old so you know it doesn't sit in the garage. I just want to have a place to go where others know how it feels to ride a big dog motorcycle till the wheels fall off

Good Point made here......Used values dropped as New production increased. I sincerely hope the factory survives, but a slow down in flooding the market with new bikes will affect the used market. I got such a great deal on my bike when I bought it in 03, I thought the value would have held-up better.

Problem is now.....no one has money to spend on toys....just trying to keep up the necessities......of course with the exception of freak'n rich folks that got all the tax cuts over the last few years.

Resale value is shit already, no matter what brand of bike you have (sans H-D, they still hold up pretty well). Dealers have paid for these bikes "up front", so either the dealership itself is in a major jam, or they think BD is on its way out.

As a factory of that size you can not produce parts/bikes on an "as needed" basis....just not going to work.

It's nothing against the company as a whole, the economy is terrible and the market is flooded with bikes.
