Tim, just a random thought. Since not everyone has access to the net as they travel especially if they break down along the road, could you create a list by state then by member name and at least member's first name, what they can help with, a contact numberin a file that would be something that could be downloaded maybe as a pdf file (or something that would take a lot of work, in a garmin file format)? The pdf could be copied to a thumb drive and carried with and be viewed on a laptop or net book.
The garmin thing would be cool as a point of interest file you could add vendor and dealer/service locations with phone numbers to either file.

I carry the service manual for my bike with me on a thumb drive.

Great Idea...Count Me In!

If you decide to take a Jr. Member, I am in. I have access to a truck, enclosed trailer, motorcycle jack, and regular tools. Have no problem giving a cell phone number out. Live in Central IL between St. Louis and Chi town.

"Phone Tree" that's brilliant, simple to implement and a no brainer to start with. Whatever else gets settled on is just a bonus.

I'm in. Maybe it could be a sticky in the roads, rides, and events section. Then everyone wishing to participate could be listed in the area they live in.

I've got a trailer, garage, tools, and a keg on tap. I also live about 30 minutes from an authorized service tech (creative cycles).

Literally a TON of good ideas, Tim! Hopefully this works out. Could very well turn out to be a godsend for many of us!!!

As for traveling with laptops, GPS, etc... Nope, usually just me and my cell phone. But before long hauls, usually take a minute to map out route and make note of dealers, etc. along the way. Jus in case. So, let's jus say, if I'm headed from St. Louis to Laconia, would be nice to know I had a reliable number(s) to call if anything happened. Could actually be as simple as that.

PS: Thanks for the effort you're puttin into this. Great idea!!!

I was going over this thread and want to make sure everyone knows this is not for social purposes, i.e. setting up runs, meet and greets, etc.... The forum is for setting up these types of events.

This list is going to be strictly for emergencies!!!

I'm still working with a company to modify some software they have to meet our needs for a map, which would be great for arranging local events.

From the sounds of it this may shape up to be really handy tool for everyone in the near future.
I've got truck, trailer, tools, two large couches, air matress, ice cold beer, straight tequila, Hot shower, and a lady that cooks awesome southern food, plenty of ammo, and a good attitude! LOL

TJ
Dude, the great attitude is awesome. My house is pretty much the same but I don't have a truck or trailer. All the rest is here too.

I'm in. I like the captian idea, we may have to split Texas up in 3-4 areas, being you can ride all day and never cross into another state. I've got a truck, trailer, shop, lift, tools and am 20 miles from BD dealer. Would be willing to take care of West Texas area if needed.

Dogbone, you still on for Ruidoso?
I totaly agree with having more tham one Captian in Texas. There is at least 4hrs between you and I even.

Indiana

I can help out in Indiana, not that anyone has any reason to ride through or to godforsaken Indiana. :D Dog dealer in Indy 1.5hrs south from me. I have truck, tools, buddy near by MMI grad and mechanic. Most importantly though about 7-8 strip joints near by and prob. 15 churches, whatever floats your boat! Me personally ......... you'll find me at the strip joint! Always willing to give a hand as brothers from the forum have saved my ass on occasions!
