I like the State Capt idea. However, not everyone one is going to be available 24/7 as mentioned above. What if we had an 800 number linked to the BDM Forum where we could call and leave a message. The mods if available would assist by calling the nearest member, provide everyone wants to leave a phone number. I'll be happy to help anyone down or stranded with parts, trailer, lift and tools. However, If you run out of Gas :loony::loony: well it better be a good excuse, like Raywood he was on his way to the luncheon and having a "bigger tank" than the rest of us it was supposed to make it there, but didn't.

Running out with a trailer and some tools, parts and maybe a trailer ride to a shop if needed I think is what most on here are talking about. As far as taking them home that's everyones individual option. I bet after 3 hours in the sun and a day like Ray had you'd be glad if someone trailered you in and put you in a motel.
I agree with state captain idea and would be willing to go along with helping a fellow biker out. I do have some reservations on having my info on a public forum though.

State Captain is a good idea. Maybe the State captain and a designated second should hold on to a kind of recall roster for members of their state who wish to participate, this way our private info isn't displayed for all to view. Just a thought!

I have a truck and access to a trailer.

I am willing to help, but no open phone numbers as my cell (which is on 24/7 since I am on call) belongs to the office and if it gets messed up, it would be bad.

I am a member of the AMA and have motow. I also have towing on my insurance. Some tools and wire ties. If that is not enough, I am calling for it to be towed.

I'm in. I like the captian idea, we may have to split Texas up in 3-4 areas, being you can ride all day and never cross into another state. I've got a truck, trailer, shop, lift, tools and am 20 miles from BD dealer. Would be willing to take care of West Texas area if needed.

Dogbone, you still on for Ruidoso?

Your welcome here in Alvin anytime Dakota. LOL I'm 25 minutes from the nearest Big Dog dealer and 35 minutes from the other one. We got two down here close. Razor works at the close one over on the Gulf Freeway. So come on in and break down!
We'll either fry up some fresh specks and reds or smother some pork chops over rice.

This sounds good to me also, Carlos! After all, I remember Ray putting together contact info for those going to Sturgis in '08 and PM'ing it to all attending. So just expand on this idea (as I recall all left there phone no. and location.

So the "800" number idea would leave a contact list with 'responsible' folk at the forum and would be good.

As I have stated before, I am in SW UT and all forum members are welcome for lodging and assistance (and a "tall cold beer" or 2, or 3, or ----!!).:cheers::cheers:

What do you mean "Ray didn't make it to the luncheon"? I rode next to him just out of Deadwood, he was at No. 10, the ride, and the KOA luncheon.

I just wanta ride
How does BAM work? Is it a phone listing?

I like the idea of listing any trailers, tools, experience, etc.... Even if it's just a garage and tools for someone to wrench on their bike and off the side of the road.
Yes it is a phone listing, while I went to an ABATE RALLY in Charlotte ,NC they had a booth for (Russ Brown) attorney that rides. He started a network of riders with contact info in case of down rider or legal help. They took all MY contact info issued you a card and sticker for automible. I have never received a call to date.

I just got my 2007 Chopper and I also have an enclosed trailer that can be used to help out. Oh and I also own a towing service and once owned a repair shop (got tools) if that makes a difference. Anybody needing help around I-12 contact me.
