With that setup 84 is way too big, thats where your mileage is going. I'm running full size valves 2.0 int/1.625 exh. 10.8 comp w9f cam and xxx carb. According to my air fuel meter its dialed in pretty good with a 32/78 combo. The atomizer in the xxx carb mod breaks up the fuel into smaller droplets which equates to a more efficient burn which means smaller jets. On a stock unmodified G carb your jets would be in the 33/80 range because it would need the extra fuel with those motor mods.
Al, I put in the 32/78. Seems to run great after I adjusted the carb. I ran it down the street at around 3500 RPM, shut er down. Pulled plug, seems on the whiter side(I put in new champion plugs before I ran it) what will happen if its alittle lean, just run hot? Should I bump it up to a 80 main? I amriding to Vegas next weekend(250 mi 1 way) and dont want to F it up. I had a 31 in it before, so my low end should be fatter, its the top end i am worried about.

running lean will increase the heat and if its too lean for too long you could burn your valves out - if its running rich the only damage you are likely to do is foul your plugs. Lean can be harmful, rich generally isn't.

Another question. Is the int jet the only one that is used besides the acc pump below 2750 rpm's? Does the main hit hard or gradule about that RPM and the int stop hard or gradually? I am trying to get a handle on this carb(XXX) and git er dialed in. The more I know, the better I can adjust it. It seems when I shut off the acc pump, adjust the air/fuel, I go no more than 1 and 1/4 turns between lean and fat so then I go back in 3/4 to the middle. Sound right?

as far as I know it is a gradual (ish) thing although over a limited rpm range - its not a sudden transition. Its also best to dial the carb in with the accelerator pump off as it can hide tale tale signs when it is on.

You have to be close. It's really hard to get a good read on your main jet on the street. It takes a while to get color on the porcelain. Dyno tune or seat of the pants is best IMO. Dial in your idle mixture and take it out for 15-20 minutes on a normal ride. Check them when you get back. If they look good you aren't going to burn up your motor. You would have to be way to lean on your intermediate or beating the piss out of it nonstop with a lean main jet to kill it.You are going to get fatter on your way over here anyway. Expect your bike to lose a nice chunk of HP here with the heat and elevation. And yes it is a gradual transition around 3000 rpm. They overlap and that is affected by the air bleed.
