Just started doing it, in first gear my belt slips inter hard accel. Does it need to be tightened or replaced?

Probably, just a tightening. Check your rear sprocket to make sure they are not worn to a point.
how many miles on the bike????

12,700 had 11,900 on it when I bought it back in spring. Talked to mr wright my belt is loose. Gonna try to tighten 1st. I'm gonna completely tear it down in a month so prob buy a new belt then.
13000 miles, shouldn't need a new belt, it should last for 50k plus.

Na, you can tell it's the belt. Feels like someone dragging your naked ass over speed bumps when you twist the throttle in 1st. Not that anyone has drug my naked ass across speed bumps before......
