Well... my 04 Ridgeback did the same thing for a while.
Tightened the belt, adjusted rear wheel alignment... What finally worked??
Chapstick applied to the edges of the belt.
Applied it maybe 4 times, never another sound.

Well guys....I hoped I would not have to chime in on this topic again, but it seems it just will NOT go away. I'm the author of "Squeaky Ass Belt". As I see I'm not the only one that thought he had the solution only to have the problem return. I've aligned and purposely mis-aligned to get the belt to travel off the edge. Rolling the bike forward and backward will even demonstrate....in my case....reverse would chew it up.
The Teflon pulley I guess is the answer, but until I've got the money to spend, I'm going to do what I have been doing for the past 2000 mile, silicon spray. Over the weekend it started again, minor, but I knew it would get worse. I pulled into a BMW motorcycle shop and asked for a shot of silicon spray. The guy had Dry Teflon spray instead. It seemed to work well....not for the first couple of miles....but then silence.
My question is: What's the best alternative to pulley replacement? Is there a good Dry Teflon that might last longer than a couple hundred miles. and does it come in a small "little dab will do ya" container to carry in the tool bag.

Yea I would like the part# for the HD belt also. I tried to go to my industrial belt vendor and get a 1 1/8" wide 133 tooth belt from Gates and Gates said they could not sell it that it was proprietary and could only get it from HD. So any way just replace my front and rear sprockets and put on new BDM belt. Checked alignment and tension before and after several test rides and re-adjusted and tensioned. So far no squeaks! My last adjustment I moved the rear wheel adjuster on the oppsited side of the belt and made the belt track in the center of the pulley. The distance from the swing arm pivot to the center is the same or at least not off by much. Only had to move the adjustment screw about one flat on the allen wrench and it would move the belt. Haven't test ridden it to see if it will stay in the middle of pulley yet. My rear pulley had alot of wear on the teeth and no amount of adjusting or tensioning would stop the squeak very long. Also my manual says 1/4" to 1/2" deflection with 10lbs of force with rider weight on the bike. Because of the wear on the rear sprocket I think this might be to tight. Oh yea when backing off of the the adjuster on the oppsite side of the pulley be sure the wheel moves. If not you will have to force the wheel back against the adjuster.
