8,300 no regret miles. So glad I went with my passion and bought the dog. Anything else would have been a compromise. :2thumbs::2thumbs:

14k Total purchased with 8k so 6000 trouble free miles this past year. I am also glad that I purchased what I wanted rather than settle for something else. Would do it again, when the green permits my 04 Bulldog needs a friend can't keep my eyes off of the K9's. :whoop::cheers:

I have an '08 K9 which I took delivery of in May last year. Just rolled over 15,000 miles yesterday which have all been trouble free. It has been through mud (road construction), heavy rain, hail (no dents thankfully) and 110+ degree heat. It is the carbureted model and it functioned flawlessly at 11,000 feet (Beartooth Pass on 4 separate rides).

It is a solid ride, so glad I did not go with a Harley!

oil pressure gauge

If it's a 100psi gauge then you'll see that. Mine does the same and plan on changing to a 60psi gauge.

I have a question .. I installed a Pressure gauge and still have the oil pressure switch as well. When I start it up pressure reads about 30psi and as it warms or at idle about 15-20psi. When I run it hard for 10 or 15 miles say at 2500-3000 rpms when I come to a stop the pressure reads 0 psi, if I give it some gas it goes to maybe 15psi -- the pressure switch is working fine. Is this normal??? my HD would drop to 7psi at low idle. I am now concerned there may be something wrong with the oil pump that causes it to lose pressure when hot. Thanks Guys!! if your ever in the Central Florida area lets have a beer!

Update: just lost the "self-canceling" feature on my turn signals after riding through the last t-storm I got caught in. The turn signals work, I just have to remember to click them off each time!

No biggie...under warranty...dealer will correct. If that's the worst thing that ever happens, I'm a happy camper! :up:

Update #2 - maybe I spoke too soon? Now my brake lights stay on "bright" all the time. Called dealer - getting a new EHC installed Friday...at only 1600 miles!:eek::rant:

I guess maybe those rainstorms I rode through recently had a residual effect???

I would like to thank everyone who posts in this thread. It's easy to be missled by reading all of the "problem" posts, and a new owner or one that's thinking of buying one of these bikes may be discourged from owning one. I'm one of those noobs, with only a little over 500 miles to my name, but I couldnt be happier with my new Bid Dog ownership!!! I've only had an ignition switch issue, but other than that everything seems to be going just fine. I do all my own work and will be doing the 500 service within a week or 2. Looking forward to logging in some serious miles and finishing up the break-in on the S&S engine. :2thumbs:
Keep those positive stories coming!!!!!!!!

8400 miles on my '07 K9. Couldn't imagine riding any other product. Minor issues all handled under warranty. Had to cough it up for a new EHC due to turn signals that didn't function properly but that was my fault due to the fact that I blew it off for more than two years.

The wife and I rented an Ultra Classic for a week this past summer and it was just uninspiring to say the least. I sold an '05 Road Glide with the 103" to acquire the Dog and have NO regrets!! NO COMPARISON!!

Just pounded out another 600+ miles this weekend and my pup still has no issues with the original equipment and the running gear is all stock. Never even waterproofed anything.
There is an ongoing issue with the HID kit, (not factory) yet am learning to live with that itch.

Perfectly tuned, love that sound and power!

This bike rocks.:cheers:

Wait, there is one issue, why is it that everywhere I ride to ppl want to take a freaking pic?:D

I have an 08 k-9 with about 10700 miles on it. I have had some standard issues with it, but they have been handled by Big Dog and my local dealer. Wouldn't trade it for anything. :up: Always looking for an excuse to ride it!! Biggest problem I have had is all the people asking questions about it. Most of which is "why the big tire on the back"..:eek: Finally settled on the generic answer.. "it makes my ass look smaller". :roll:

And yes, at times it is rode hard, in all weather conditions, yet these bikes are desinged to be ridden.

Thomas, our local Steel Dreams expert wrench found the handlebars had bad bushings and promptly fixed this non problem.
Yes, my speedo jumps around a bit and fogs up everywhere we go, but, I really only look at the odometer to remind me to fill up, so for me, this is also a non issue.
The reliability of these bikes let us ride to events do the things we want to do with our Bros.


Who else has had an absolutly positive experience with their Big Dog?

Closing in on 4850 miles in the first year no problems and is running better everyday I ride it. Wait there is one problem "SNOW" :angry:

nice to see a positive post of once, I have 06 K9 a little over 25000 miles, had some small issues when under warranty which bigdog took care of most, only other thing was main shaft in trans. broke coming back from Ocean City this year, but had towing on my insurance and baker rebuild for about $350.00 which I thought was fair. I love my K9 and all the attention it gets.
