Your mechanic and dealership sucked in my opinion. To the new guys, just relax. Its a great site to get great info. It is NOT a bitch session website. If you want a bitchy website, start your own.

Dumd Dick called me a Fucking New Guy...FNG...Let that mother fucker fix my bike or have to take a bike that has 4400 miles on it to dealer 130 miles away every month while it was under warranty and still having to do it when its not for the same problems as day 1...Just pay my gas bill for Hauling the Mother Fucker back and forth or picking it up on side of the road every time it fucks up....Just trying to let others in same shape know what BDM is willing to do if you hound them enough...Sorry 4 ventin my self..

THIS IS IN NO WAY AN APOLOGY

the FNG comment reflected the way you and chopchop came on here from day one bitching and whining about the problems with your bikes expecting to get sympathy from the people who have been members here a long time. that ain't gonna happen. do i have trouble with my bike? on occasion, yes, but i don't whine and expect BDM to fix the things that go out after the warranty is out. when the latest fix for the EHC came out i tried to have it done and found out mine was corrupted and would not accept the fix. oh well, guess some day i will have to buy a new one. so far i have not been stranded on the side of the road but this is a hot rod bike and the shit will someday hit the fan. i know that. will i come fix your bike, most likely not. do i wish you luck in finding the problem? definitely. was going to the BBB justifiable? that's up to you. am i a mechanic? not even close. was calling members on this sight names the right thing to do? HELL NO so shut the fuck up and take your toys and go home.

Ok, ALL of you need to chill.

chopchop, you are new here so I'll set you straight before things get out of hand. You are pretty much free to say what you want, but personal attacks will not be tolerated. For you to come here and essentially call all of us idiots because our views and experiences differ is bullshit. Then, for you to tell all of us that we should back the guy having a problem, not personally knowing that person, is just dumb. We don't know the person, their character nor their riding and maintainence habits. Just because someone has an issue with their bike doesn't mean it is not user induced. So, I'm going to recommend you think a little more before you post.

Buildem, sorry to hear about your issues and that your dealership seems to have some problems with their mechanics. In all honesty, they should have troubleshot your bike and reported their findings to BDM. You are their customer, they sold you a bike and should have taken care of you better, in my opinion. I do not know their relationship with BDM but if BDM had to tell them what to do, that leaves me to believe they were lost to begin with and didn't troubleshoot your bike. In my line of work, we don't call our tech department until all of us are out of ideas and it's only happened to my crew once in 2.5 years. It just doesn't sound like they troubleshot your bike, relied on BDM to do it over the phone and then past the blame onto BDM.

I'm glad you did get BDM to take care of you, even if it took getting the BBB involved.

When this 3rd EHC went out in my bike back in March I emailed BDM after I found out it was going to cost me $540 bucks..I went home to put the new one in so I could go ride that day and the connectors were different..(male versus female or vise versa?)I drove back up to Nashville the next day to see if they had given me the wrong one and thats when I found out that BDM had paid R&B to change the connectors and EHC to 09 models last year when the bike was still under warranty.I bought the bike in 06, and it was a leftover model from 05.I had been having problems with everything electrical on the bike right from the 300 mile mark...It has blown everything that is electrical at least 1 time..The headlight blew 4 times before the recall came out on the housing.Even the speedometer has been changed out 1 time.I emailed BDM for 2 months asking for some help and finally went on Facebook .com and left some words and they finally responded to me and asked to talk privately.(It's still on there) ..When they called the gentleman that I talked to said that I must have a wire inside my frame somewhere grounding out somewhere and they were not going to help fix this reacurring problem unless I paid them to do it..I was furious that day and could not believe how this guy acted...He made me feel like I was asking him to buy this bike back with his money. All I have ever asked is for them to help find the problem.I never asked for any refund or credit on the EHC I had to buy myself.I filed with BBB shortly after that and asked only for them to find out my problem.Traci from BDM called after the BBB filed the complaint and asked about my electrical add ons..I told her that I didnt have any because i had already been warned about adding stuff to these bikes.Even a license plate light will mess them up according to BDM..She agreed that my bike had had some issues and if I would carry it back they would pay for the labor if I paid for all other cost.I agreed and it just was my luck that I went to go out on the bike last weekend and it wouldnt start anyway..So since they made the offer I told her it was fucked up again anyway and it would be there the next day.I took it in yesterday and he checked the battery and it was gone..Of course now hopefully he is going to go through the bike and see whats actually doing all of this. When I can afford to I will be changing my elec. system to wire plus system.I still owe $14k on the bike since I refinaced because of divorce and my business has slowed so much..If not for BBB I would of never got any help..I own my own Construction Company and I hated to do that because I wouldn't want that done to me but I'm tellin you the customer service at BDM is awful and they assumed I wouldnt buy another BDM I guess...
Thanks for the update and now I see your frustrations more. The ground in the frame does sound like a good place to start and it can be a bitch to locate for sure. Would not be the first time one went to throwing parts at something only to it or another come back due to a bad wire.

I am glad that you are getting it resolved, but still recommend that you get the books and a good multimeter and start trying to learn the good troubleshoot for any future isses, be it the Dog or an old jalopy.

There is some good info on this forum and most will try to drive in the right direction to help one out.

Hopefully if you have to deal with dealer again, their new mechanic will set you in the right direction and not such a run around.

Still interested in leanring more about the change out to a 2009 type harness and EHC. Anyone else know about that for the olders bike, the only thing I am aware of, was when some of the older EHC where changed out, it went from one type of PC connector to a different type (PC2 to USB if I recall right). Other than can not grasp the difference between and 05 EHC type and a 09.

Well Chop,

I do hope that buildem does have an easy road and things are right for him. If not and he sticks around let us know, I am sure that many here will try to drive him in the right direction.

As far as BD not giving a Rats Ass, would have to disagree with you on that one, at least from my experience and reading many post on this forum of where they went way out there way to help. Too many times they have done work under a warrenty when the bike was out of such.

Buildem may have been one of minority IMHO and if so it is a shame and does not change his situation. That said it still sounds like they went pass what they were required.

From what I know of BD, they are more likely to help one out than say Dodge when my wife old Durango had to have a transmission replaced at 80,000, or the upper ball joints at 65k for their recall only covered the lower and for a few months before mine ended.

That is true. I've been out for awhile now so, that is not much of an issue.

Actually, it was never an issue because I knew he wouldn't man up.

Just thought I would let everyone else know what i have been going through with BDM..They treat you like they don't know you unless you are gonna do something for them just like some people on this site that have been Doggin me out....I only posted this to help anyone else that may be having a similar problem..I thought that was one of the reasons for this site..This is a place that I have definitely learned that I'm not alone with this issue...If you dont like listening to my so called whinning then don't read it....I damn sure wont be beating on your post calling you names..I know karma will come around...So next time your bike leaves you on the side of the road for this issue..Think back to this...At least if I had a honda 90 I could probably use it to get to Little Sturgis next weekend...
