:whoop::whoop::whoop:I finally got some help fromBDM today after finally going through the BBB...I have had 3 EHC in my 05 Ridgeback go out and the last one having to buy it myself at $540.00..last Friday when I took the bike off of my Charger tender I went to start it and it only would bump the starter..Today when i took it to R&B in Nashville,Tn. the 4th battery has taken a dump also..Big dog did call them yesterday and tell them to figure out what is wrong with my bike at no Labor Cost to Me, and whats causing this...like we dont already know...But at least they are going to pay for all the labor to take the bike apart and see if something else is wrong thats causing all of these problems..This bike has had everything that is Electrical replaced 1 or more times and they know it...We will see if BDM is going to back this Bike and fix it finally like they should have a long time ago..I will let everyone know my out come..Seeing as this bike only has 4475 miles on it!!!:bang::bang:

The 1st time I dealt with them 3 months ago they treated me like I was a dumbass and told me that they would fix it if I paid them....WTF???This time(When they called) I had told them about the research I had done and everyone elses problems and they were quick to change the subject...When I took mine in they were replacing an EHC on an 06 pitbull....I looked and at least his had 8500 miles on it, but The owner wasnt around to ask how many times its happened..

Sorry to hear about the run around, surprised to hear that you paid so much for the EHC. I had to replace one on my 05 due to my fault and it was no where near that price.

Question, all the times you had the work done, was it at the same dealer R & B? If so was the complaint with the BBB against BDM or R&B.

Just confused especially if you had to go through 4 batteries and so many EHC. The system is not that hard and should have been fairly easy to identify with proper knowledge and troubleshooting.

I asked them Specifically if I needed to drive to another dealer 300 miles away to get it fixed in Knoxville and they were very adimit about NOT taking anywhere else..I know they do have another mechanic that works for R&B in Nashville now and he seems to know his stuff..I Hope...The reason my last one cost so much was because they changed the connectors for the EHC to 09 models while it was under warranty trying to fix it..

I will say that it all seems very out of norm for BDM, but if they are getting it fixed, that is the good part. Was BDM the one that authorized the Dealer to convert to a 2009 EHC.

If BDM did step up to the plate and cover a nearly 4 year MC out of warrenty, do not understand the BBB complaint or was that against R&B?

I know that some have had issues with EHC, however I know that many more times than naught, the dealers just assume it is the EHC without proper troubleshooting and then go down the road of parts changing.

Could the EHC be better, no doubt but still the whole electrical systems is not that complicated IMHO and for the life of me I can not understand why the dealer had so much problems other than possibly not really knowing what they were doing.

I have no issues with my EHC personnaly, however would recommend that if you have additional problems in the future, that you consider a switch to the wire plus conversion, also as Gas Man say, "Why Pay Someone Else to F*%# up your bike" or something to that effect.

If you do not have a manual, highly recommend getting one and a good multimeter and learning good troubleshooting so that you are not depending on a dealer the next time, especially if that dealer mechanics may be questionable.

Safe riding

Against BDM...R&B has always bent over backwards for me..I only took it back because of the warranty they offered this time...I found out when the 3rd one went out about BDM telling them to change it to 09 parts...But it still BLEW...

Just a little curious here to this subject, but after seeing a segment on the "Today Show" about certain state's Lemon laws, are motorcycles covered under these laws, OR these laws only implemented for automobiles??? Seems the "Lemon Law" would help allot of the complaints we see on this forum..!!!

Maybe I am a dumb hick from Kentucky, but still confused by the whole post. BDM fixes a problem on a bike that is outside of warrenty, yet a complaint is filed to the BBB.

The same dealer was the one working on the bike the whole time and I assume in conjunction with BDM, however the dealer did the work. The owner is going through batteries and EHC and seems can not get the problem resolved.

Yet the change out the EHC to a 2009 style at BD direction, costing the owner more than the EHC for a 2005.

Now, no expert but the damn electronics are not that complicated. Granted maybe the EHC is not perfect, but I am sure that for the vast majority of owners, very little problems. Regardless I cannot for the life of me figure out why a dealer could not find the problem, not the assumption, but the true root cause of the problem.

Also why would BD not allow the owner to take it to another BD Dealer if they first was not getting it done, regardless if it was dealer of BDM cause, especially if the owner still ended up forking money over.

I am sure the owner had problems and was getting frustrated and is understandable, however still do not understand why a complaint was filed against BDM.

Also it seems that R&B has another mechanic now that works for R&B in Nashville and he seems to know his stuff, did the others not know their stuff?

I must emphasize that I feel for the owner, just do not see why the complaint against BDM.

Without knowing the facts, my tendency is to be looking very closely at the dealer and if they really was truely trobleshooting the root causes.

Glad the owner is getting it resolved and it sounds like BDM is stepping up to the plate and covering another bike that is out of warrenty to keep a happy rider, just do not understand the complaint against BDM with BBB

When this 3rd EHC went out in my bike back in March I emailed BDM after I found out it was going to cost me $540 bucks..I went home to put the new one in so I could go ride that day and the connectors were different..(male versus female or vise versa?)I drove back up to Nashville the next day to see if they had given me the wrong one and thats when I found out that BDM had paid R&B to change the connectors and EHC to 09 models last year when the bike was still under warranty.I bought the bike in 06, and it was a leftover model from 05.I had been having problems with everything electrical on the bike right from the 300 mile mark...It has blown everything that is electrical at least 1 time..The headlight blew 4 times before the recall came out on the housing.Even the speedometer has been changed out 1 time.I emailed BDM for 2 months asking for some help and finally went on Facebook .com and left some words and they finally responded to me and asked to talk privately.(It's still on there) ..When they called the gentleman that I talked to said that I must have a wire inside my frame somewhere grounding out somewhere and they were not going to help fix this reacurring problem unless I paid them to do it..I was furious that day and could not believe how this guy acted...He made me feel like I was asking him to buy this bike back with his money. All I have ever asked is for them to help find the problem.I never asked for any refund or credit on the EHC I had to buy myself.I filed with BBB shortly after that and asked only for them to find out my problem.Traci from BDM called after the BBB filed the complaint and asked about my electrical add ons..I told her that I didnt have any because i had already been warned about adding stuff to these bikes.Even a license plate light will mess them up according to BDM..She agreed that my bike had had some issues and if I would carry it back they would pay for the labor if I paid for all other cost.I agreed and it just was my luck that I went to go out on the bike last weekend and it wouldnt start anyway..So since they made the offer I told her it was fucked up again anyway and it would be there the next day.I took it in yesterday and he checked the battery and it was gone..Of course now hopefully he is going to go through the bike and see whats actually doing all of this. When I can afford to I will be changing my elec. system to wire plus system.I still owe $14k on the bike since I refinaced because of divorce and my business has slowed so much..If not for BBB I would of never got any help..I own my own Construction Company and I hated to do that because I wouldn't want that done to me but I'm tellin you the customer service at BDM is awful and they assumed I wouldnt buy another BDM I guess...

BDM was not even willing to help at all until I got BBB involved..They kept asking me what I wanted???I kept saying please help fix my bike!!!!After getting all the history in March and finding out they were only having R&B try this and try that..R&B was told by BDM what to do when BDM was having to warranty.Of course its cheaper on BDM to replace these easy to get to items instead of authorizing R&B to tear it apart and find the GREMLIN..You can look back in the post from their layed off engineers on here that BDM knew about this problem with these EHC and finally fixed it in 07...I guess thats why they changed mine to 09 EHC and connectors..But like I've said it STILL blew so that means there is something somewhere else...By the way..This FNG is not a Mechanic..just Mechanically Inclined...I dont see why I should tear down a bike myself that I have 33k in after learning about all the changes they made to my 05 model by putting 09 parts on it..How about you find my problem Wood Butcher???

old hippy good question,i would like to know the same.. dawg boy yes i could elaborate a little, what im trying to say is that there are so many ''pro bdm supporters'' that when bdm reads these forums they actully think there doing the right thing, i mean for real its like some guys on here are running to be elected to be president of bdm,to many political kiss asses sometimes ,sry just what ive been seeing alot of. you have a guy saying his engine blew up or his electrical system took a shit or whatever there are so many problems with some of these bikes i could go on for days, then you have the politicians saying NO WAY they are the best.. nothing wrong with my bike ,my bike is great you suk etc etc there always putting down the buyer that are like you and me,instead why dont some of you stop kissing there asses and let them know how you really feel, and the guys that are saying they never had a problem with there bike then it just didnt happen yet or they put more thousands of $ into there bike to either change the electric system or change the engine for more power or change to an open belt,or change the starter, its bullshit we spend 30g to spend another 10g to get these bikes running correctly, come on it shouldnt be...i seen alot of guys complain about there bikes and then other guys rip them a new asshole for being on a forum that is suppose to be freedom of speech, unless you work for bdm or own it,you should be backing the guys like you and me period..there are some guys i see that dont even have a thousand miles on there bikes and they never get to ride because of it always breaking down, then they come on here and say my bike is grreat i love it so much i store it at the dealer for repairs every weekend, come on dont be idiots cause bdm is laughing out loud when they take your cash. sry had to vent..
