Not as many miles as others here but i have done 250 miles in a day many times.
I even got stuck in a down poor on my way to the Carlisle PA bike fest last year.
I have never been so wet in all my life. I couldn't see but the bike didn't let me down...

No Worries

I purchased my `06 K-9 during a drought/heatwave June 27, 2006. The dealership (Bikers Dream) is 320mi. from my house and I rode home during the heat of the day. That was almost 7 years and 25.000mi. ago. To this day I wouldn`t even flinch at riding my K-9 on an extended trip. The reliability question is a non-issue as far as I`m concerned because I have full confidence in my Big Dog`s reliability, both mechanically and structurally. Somehow though, everyone that I know who had AIH bikes have traded them. I`m not privvy to the reasons why the trades took place but it seems they all were dumped after two to five thousand miles of ownership whether new or used for some reason. Possibly another member can offer more information than I have.

I ride my 03 chopper from April till november. Most I've done in a day is 600 miles. I do 200 to 400 every weekend. Bought it with 10k it's now got 30k. It's as reliable as any Vtwin. I go over the bike on Saturday mornings and then ride it.

I think most of the bikes were dumped every time they went bankrupt.

When in Grand Rapids, MI I rode the Vintage to Key West twice, Albuquerque, Steamboat Springs, Sturgis, all over 4000 in 10 days. Then moved to Phoenix and explored AZ, NM, NV and CO. Rode PHX to Tampa twice. Phx to present Wisconsin twice. Most of the 4000+ rides started and ended with two 700 mile days to get to the destination asap. Longest were two 920 mile days (got stopped in West Texas on the first Phx to Tampa ride for a daya and a half in Jan by a hail storm but still had to pick up my girlfriend in New Orleans by a certain time. Was only 20 minutes late :). In all of those rides and many other relatively shorter trips always average 500 to 600). Now that I just finished restoring, I plan to do all those and more again. The ride I most want to do that I haven't yet is a Vancouver to Cabo. Now that my wife has her fatboy, we'll do that one together.
