Battery Tender ???

Hey guys I believe my tender has shit the bed. Always a flashing red light and there is no voltage at the output. Can anyone touch a meter to their BDM tender and tell me if there is 12V present without any load. I had a broken positive wire on the pigtail the other day and thought that was why the red light was flashing, fixed that and checked with a meter, there is no volatage present at the output of the tender when it is not connected to the battery. Thanks in advance

Thanks Pablo, I was thinking it may need to be on the battery to verify, will see if I have an output with it attached. I have seen only a flashing red light since the pigtail postiive was broke.

And Thanks Don I may need a new one. Will check on that later.

No problem dude I waz getting the HD ready to go so I checked both. The Chop has the clamp ends so I could check charge volts!:2thumbs:

Just for an update if anyone was interested. I had a wire broken twice, no problem with the tender afterall. Sorry Don won't be buying one today,

The positive wire terminal lug was broken and I had repaired that first, but still no charging......

I took a known good battery and attached my tender with the clamp pigtail and it worked normally, so I knew the charger was ok.

I then took a meter to my pigtail on the bike checking continutiy of the the negative wire, checked fine, then the postitive wire from the connector to the fuse was good, fuse checked good, but there was no continuity from the fuse holder to the terminal lug. The wire was not only broken at the lug, which I had just fixed, but it was also broken from the fuse connector inside the plastic fuse housing.

The fix was I just removed the clamps from the second pigtail and terminated with ring lugs and installed that pigtail on my bike. Tender is doing it's thing again.

Was a little puzzling there for a day or so, you wouldn't think the same wire would be broken twice in just a 4" piece, but it was. :2thumbs:
