Battery Cover Upgrade

I think another good way to prevent this and I am getting ready to redo my left side is put a bugger washer under the nut and use two (one on each side) rubber washers in order to allow the cover some play or give. This will take alot of strain off of that spot and spread it out more then just tightening the crap out of that bolt straight away on the plastic.

Just my .02!

Well Kaptin, I wish I would of saw your post before I purchased the BD fix. They sent me the push pin type, but will have to drill out frame tabs slightly to get them thru. Do they do anything right??

This doesn't sound right. I just replace all my hardware on my 04 pitbull. No problems with the new wellnuts they sent.

Mine broke and i took it over to my neighbour who does body work. He took a plastic heater box from a Honda car that was the same thickness. Cut out a piece and plastic welded it in. Trimmed it to the same shape and drilled a new hole. Fits perfect.

I have a nice set posted on here in swaps with no cracks that fit my 05 pit bull if anyone is interested until they get a metal replacement. I haven't seen a lower price than I have them for.

ok the ball is rolling on the side covers. Having them made out of aluminium and this is what we got so far

I have them now for a test fit and to measure up for the relief for the exhaust. They will then be finished up properly and powder coated. Look pretty good to me.

:(This is an Update for my Plastex vs. JB Weld Repair.....

The JB Weld Repair lasted approximately 2 years. So, I will be using Plastex on my right Battery Cover Tab. The left side done with Plastex is still solid with no signs of failure.:D

Yes Franco,

I use hardware bolts, lock nuts, washers and just a rubber hose cut to length to fit the ear hole and bolt. I have done this for various items in the last ten years. You cannot even tell there is a rubber hose insert when cut to fit the hole. It prevents you from crushing your pieces together and takes up some vibration transmitted from the frame to the battery cover tabs.
