For those of you with the baggers, how big are the bags compared to the harley hard bags? I used to have an ultra classic, and you could put a decent amount of stuff in the side bags. I've heard that bulldog's bags are smaller, but how much smaller? 1/2? 3/4?

About half size or less.

That would probably be all. Just for the hell of it, I'm going to the shop and measure the 2 different bags.

The first is the Bulldog Bagger and the se ond is a 2012 cvo streetglide.
The Bulldog bags are approximately 12 inches deep by 6 wide and about 19 long.it has a large well for the shock that takes up a lot of space.
Harley bags are 23 x 7x13. Mostly useable space.

I like how BD has a lining inside. It looks like it would hold a jacket. Not sure what else you want to put in there.

Yep, I had the soft bags when I had the ultra. I had one for the tour pack too. If you can fit a jacket and a couple changes of clothes in the bulldog's bags, that would be fine for most trips I take. I do take some long trips to Maine every couple years. I've had the saddlebags and the tour pack on the ultra all full on those trips. With a big sissy bar bag, I could probably pull that off on a bulldog.

I have about 20,000 touring miles on my 2010 Bulldog Bagger. The saddlebags (or ‘saddlesacks’ as I call them) are indeed small and somewhat banana shaped to accommodate the rear shock absorber. Bananas fit nicely, as do jackets and miscellaneous objects willing to bend around the damn shock tower....had to leave the 12’ drive torque wrench home, tho....haha. I also use a large T-Bag which I put on the passenger seat and affix to the sissy bar ton use as a backrest. I also can attach a duffel to the luggage rack. Still not as much stuff as my SG would hold with both saddlebags and a tour pac, but enough for a couple of weeks.
I get comments and pics taken every time I get the Bulldog Bagger out, which is more than I can say for thr HD.
And on the road, it is a very satisfactory long ride touring bike. The rubber mounted engine and the ‘square’ 111” makes for plenty of torque and a smooth ride.

Paul, I saw a photo of a bagger with push buttons on the bags, but darned if I can recall where—I have looked around but come up dry. Please let me know by pm if you run across them. I hate using that cheesy key to get in my bags.

That's what I say. Big Dog's are known for semi custom motorcycles. A Bagger is no different. Having a choice I vote for looks.

Because like it or not they are popular.
If you are in business to sell bikes make what people want.

They are putting thousands into them to customize too. The BDM is very custom to start with.
