Pulled the rear wheel off from my 2007 K9 and this came falling out of the wheel.
Are these the wheel bearings? Can they be replaced?

Hop on Amazon n order a bearing puller for motorcycles. Back wheel has 3 bearings and the front only 2. They are different sizes just so's ya know.

OK, thanks! I just dropped the wheels off at the local motorcycle shop to have the tires replaced, so it's in their hands now. Is that aa standard Harley style part? If not, then they might have to order it, then I'm without a bike for a few days.

Are these the wheel bearings I need to replace?
The motorcycle shop is telling me that those are not correct, and what I need is a bearing that gets pressed into the wheel and requires a special tool. From what I can tell though is that these are correct, but granted, pressing them into the wheel might involve a tool.

Looks like 2 front wheel bearing and the 3 back wheel bearing in that kit..they are not hard to remove and install.

Your shop is correct—the bearings are pressed in. As Knotead says, 3 for the rear and two for the front. I usually replace them when changing the front tire. If you are offered sealed or unsealed bearngs, get the sealed ones. Below are pics of bearings I’ve used.
Afterthoughts: if your shop doesn’t have that bearing puller tool, I’d definitely look for another shop……this is a job I usually send out for lack of a tire machine, plus the professional shops can spin balance the front tire (I’ve gone back to weight instead of glass beads).

I ran across a video of someone installing the bearings, and he basically just hammered them into the wheel using a socket that was the same size as the bearings. Appears to be something even I could do, but perhaps I'm better off going to a shop that truly knows what they are doing.
Should the bearings all be replaced after so many miles?

Yes absolutely Jeff—the bearings need to be replaced. Kinda like the valve lifters…It’s recommended to change valve lifters every 25-30K miles. Some guys have 50,000+ miles and still have the originals. But if one does fail, you have catastrophic engine failure. I used to change wheel bearings with every new tire. Now I change them all every time I buy a front tire. Usually my bike wears out two back tires before the front needs replaced. As I recall my K9 gets about 8,000 miles out of a rear tire. YMMV
I’m sure you can replace the bearings yourself—think about finding a Big Dog video and/or chatting with experienced Forum members to get it done correctly. Watching a Harley repair video and figuring it also applies to Big Dogs is a recipe for doing the same job twice (minimum) at double the expense.

This tool can also be used to seat the new bearings without the need for a hammer.

No. That’s part of the race of the bearing completely destroyed. What he’s referring to is the spacer that fits in the rim between the two inside faces of the bearings once seated. Your axle goes through it also. From your photo it looks like it’s still in the rim

Actually shredder may have been referring to the item in your first post/pic that is to the bottom right. That looks like a wheel spacer that would go either between the brake & bearings or the brake & frame.
