I have a chopper and would like to eventually get a K-9. But I want a Roadglide as well so probably not get a second anytime soon.
Anyone have two (or more) Big Dogs as their only bikes?

4 Ridgebacks in one family attest to how impressive this machine is.
I'll be honest, when I did the "math", I was thinking this purchase didn't make sense:
- Too long to slip in between two cars that are parallel parked.
- Too big and bulky to easily maneuver downtown.
- Budgeting, time-wise, a 5 minute wait in the morning for it to warm up.
After I bought it on what I initially felt was an impulse buy, I find myself riding it all the time and my other bikes sitting. It's such an impressive machine, even just to look at (though that may just be me).

Seems like you always need a mule from time to time. The Chopper is fun to ride but it's like a hot rode. Ride it, fix something, go ride, clean it, ride, fix,..... But I still smile each time I ride it so I will live with it. Still want a K-9. I love the look of it.

I want to add an `08 Ridgeback to my kennel someday. For now, I grin daily making googly eyes at my Mastiff haha!

My main purpose for having more than one bike is so that I'm able to ride if the other bike is down.
But if your fun bike is down, why not have the backup also be a fun bike.
I'd be tempted to sell the other bikes in order to get another BDM if it weren't for the 5-minute warm up time. I leave for work in the early AM and the carport amplifies the noise even more so in my case I do need an FI bike at least for going to work.

So your question isn't really about having 2 or more Big Dogs. I have 3 Triumphs and one of them is a lot louder than my Big Dog.
I've never warmed up a bike for 5 minutes. Maybe one minute and then easy riding out of the neighborhood. I don't have the patience to wait 5 minutes.

The question was about having two big dogs in the sense that those are the most fun bikes to ride as opposed to using a beater for commuting purposes etc.
As far as the 5 minute wait, I'm thinking that instead of easing off the enricher over the course of 5 minutes, I could take off riding and ease off the enricher during the first 5 minutes of my ride, is that feasable? (first time owning a carb'ed bike)

You shouldn't give any bike throttle with the enricher or choke on.

Oh, I guess then the question becomes whether there's a longer idle adjustment screw that will allow me to increase/decrease the idle speed while on the bike, say at a stoplight?
If so I could tolerate a one minute warmup with a higher idle and then as I'm riding I can gradually decrease the idle speed as necessary

4. 2009 Wolf anniversary edition #9
Also 2008 Harley CVO springer that I very rarely ride. Mostly ride the Coyote fast and gets through corners real nice and a little lighter than my other bikes. Oh yah Donna and Derik are my best friends lots of parts over last 4 years!! I eliminated most of my polished aluminum got it chromed!! Yes I'm retired!!!

I've never used my enricher and I've never needed to use it!
I do have a Cruise Mate that comes in handy if I need to put my helmet, gloves etc on and I want to warm up the dog at around 1,000 rpms. Cruise Mate is also great for highway riding.

I own four bikes, one 03 BDM Pitt Bull, 04 & 06 American Iron Horse~ Lone Star Choppers ( equivalent to BDM Ridgeback), and an 1993 HD Heritage Softail, converted to a 3 wheel trike. 69 years old, "life is good"...

Just out of curiosity, American Ironhorse is out of business yet those bikes are selling for high prices.
To me the lack of availability of parts (I don't consider having to find a used part of eBay to be readily available) was why I never considered one.
One example is the pulley that you can't get anymore. Any idea why the prices seem high?

I don't follow the iron horse market but perhaps it's just the prices are up because of the riding season. It never hurts to ask for more
