I use the fat boy as a reference. A 64" wheelbase and add half a wheel on either side and it just fits perpendicularly between parallel parked cars.just remember, wheelbase plus 1/2 front tire plus 1/2 back tire makes it too long to park sideways in normal parking spaces.
Anything above that 64" wheelbase and the required parking angle increases, e.g. my 84" wheelbase ridgeback parks at a 45 degree angle thereby requiring a greater amount of space between the cars.
The much space (the 45 degree angle ridgeback) is often times hard to come by in DC, however spaces requiring a lesser angle, say an extra 5" that the 2004 bulldog would require, are more readily available, hence my need for a stubby bike while keeping the look, sound, and American build of a BDM
