Air Ride ?'s

somebody needs to give me AIR RIDE 101. What I'm hearing doesn't add up to me.

This is what I've heard:

If you pump it up you get:
1. more travel
2. softer ride
3. more weight capacity

If you let air out you get:
1. less travel
2. harder ride
3. less weight capacity

my understanding is the:

more pressure =
1. stiffer ride, not softer
2. higher seat height, not necessarily more travel
3. operate properly for a broader weight range, not increase weight capacity
4. faster riding

less pressure =
1. softer ride, not stiffer
2. less travel
3. poorer handling with aggressive riding
4. slower riding

how do they keep it from bottoming out at low PSI?

I find a happy medium between lots of pressure and ride height. The more weight the more travel etc. so it's nice when you're 2up. I didn't get the gauge so I'm not sure on what psi but I just have found a happy place and leave it there. If you let all the air out it will remind you why you didn't buy a ridgeback

It's the best mod I've done. I put it on so I could crank it up when riding in some curves to give some more clearance and to also soften the overall ride. I haven't been able to put so much air in it that it's hard. I have a 9' couch going down the highway and if I could just block the wind more a bit on long trips I could ride it all day....

i just scrape the exhaust too easily with my air ride anything other than full height - the roads in the UK are a little different to yours of course

Different must mean better. Cause maybe Jersey is the only one that can compare to the shit we have here in michigan.

no I'm just guessing that we have more tight turns etc because our roads are smaller and tighter in general - we also have roundabouts! and you are always turning right on a roudabout
