Ray or I suppose anyone else,

Is there anything that you have done to your hand controls or anything else to ensure that when getting caught in the rain over your countless miles you dont have any electrical issues?

I have read about conformal coating the PCB boards but that is all. I was curious if that was something you have done or any other precautionary steps you have taken to waterproof your skoot. Hell I know you got stuck in bad weather all the time.

Planning a long trip come october just want to do what I can to prevent breakdowns.
Most all my wiring is shrunk wrapped with die electric grease. But never done anything to the hand control boards and never had a problem with them.
Have a great trip

Thanks,

That does provide me comfort in knowing you have ridden the piss out of her and no issues on that front! :flag:

I am looking at hopefully doing 2-2.5k miles 3rd week of October. Taking off Oct 20th and not returning until Oct 27th. Haven't figured out where to yet. With it being 3rd week in October I'm fairly limited to stay South I just haven't figured out if East or West is the way to go from Dallas. I am open for recommendations, I was considering Arizona/Southern Utah.

Great job Ray,
Just wish the picture moved with the new site layout. Getting ready to do some work on mine and a picture is worth a lot. :(

Well got my front caliber rebuild kit along with some other goody’s from Wild Steed Worx The Kaptin is the man and fast too. :old2:
Disconnected the from brake line and taped up. Removed the two caliber mounting bolts and set up my tail gate as a work bench. Removed the four allen bolts holding the two half’s together. Removed the brake pads then cleaned as much as possible and put it back together with the two center bolts snug. Cut an old paint stirrer up into pieces around the same length as the pads. Use three at first then two put them where the pads were. Got my air hose blow gun rapped the end with with black tape then blew some air into the brake line hole. This popped out three out of four pistons most of the way, but not all the way. Push the two back in some and use the same size allen wrench as the four bolts, put it between the wood and the side that was stuck. This held the wood closer to the side that was loose. Hit it again with air and it moved a little more. Took both half’s apart again and removed the pistons. Now for some more cleaning. Here are some pictures.

Had my head light out last year when I replaced the tach ring that Kaptin rebuilt. That fixed most of my electrical problems. Head light and connector look great then. Last year I lost my low beam on the way back from O.C. bike week. So back apart again removed set screw for beauty ring then ring, Then other set screw just a little, not sure what size it was, did not have any that fit? :oldswear: Removed retainer ring with a small punch in the four holes. Be very careful with this. :oldcool: Take your time switching back and forth from side to side with the punch. The stock socket is junk. Replaced with WSW connector. Comes with nice instuctions too. :old2:
