Adding Compression-Doing It Right

... and I look forward to hearing that Al... :flag:

We will have to take a run next summer - when you get everything broken in... :whoop:

Not a challenge, because it sounds like I will be getting smoked, but it would still be FUN :D

I finally got mine broke in... but with our effin weather, the delay and fitment mods in getting my intake, and my front end problems, I haven't really been able to run her much.

I am planning on getting to run her this weekend...
which probably means that I am responsible for more bad weather at the Chopper Show and the Easyrider Rodeo. :(

That's a lot of cam, it should sound like nitro drag bike with your short open exhaust. May have to crank the idle up some to keep it running on the bottom end but hang on after that.

I'm sorry, I got the Woods W9F (.650 lift) mixed up with the W10F (.750 lift). The W9F should be fine for the street with everything else being setup to work with it.

From what I have read the most popular Woods cam being used in our 117" motors is the W6HF which is a .650 lift designer cam with good torque numbers.

Woods has a good reputation for his products throughout the Vtwin community. Generally speaking the Woods cams have steep ramp rates and may produce a little more valve train noise and wear. Anytime we start going for performance there are compromises to be made.

Yeah Larry the W6hf cam has a slightly lower duration which works good with a lower compression like 10.2:1 to 10.5:1 but I got a great deal on the W9f that in the long run is going to cost more but its worth it. I have been warned about the noise which only makes me want it more.

Thanks HDLarry...reading everyone on here rave about the gains, most seem happy with the upgrade...I'm wondering the downside, if any... you must have a good tuner or be one yourself? not sure...Can you still putt around with these cams as well?
valve train noise & wear from side load on the valve giudes!!
shit!!! go have fun!!!

Juiced Up 117

Guys & Gals:
It's been almost a year and 5,000 miles since i juiced up the 117 with zero deck, woods cam, bandit clutch, etc. The bike still runs great, it does vibrate more than the stock 117 did but what the hell. Sounds like a super gas drag car. In terms of performance, i have not been beat yet.:D My buddy just purchased a AIH chopper with a 124 and i get him out of the hole by 1/2 bike then it's dead even from there on. I just purchased a 2007 Mastiff for my wife and unloaded her piece of junk HD. You can go out to the gallery and see the paint job, it's cool as hell. We are a "all dog" family.

The wife says it turns harder than a V-Rod but loves the bike. Had to add the BD ez pull ball and ramp along with adding a bandit clutch. I had alot of issues on my 06 k9 with clutch stuff, so i just went the bandit direction up front on the mastiff. Kinda sucks that i had to buy the entire ez pull kit from BD when all i really needed as the ball and ramp assembly.
