Just sent them an email about my scoot .. looking to see how much the cam and accessories will cost before i commit. Seems lots of folks here like the Woods setup!

I looked at the Woods Web Site...They have some unbelievable HP/TQ numbers...they get 120hp and 120TQ out of nearly everything they touch...Could this be right? are the bikes streetable? also what would be the new displacement# for the 117?

Bob Woods makes some nice products but don't get stuck on HP/TQ numbers. It is unlikely that you will match his numbers without all the supporting components (I.E. Exhaust, carb, air intake etc.) and of course a good tuner. Even after that you don't know what kind of "happy" dyno they may have used.

Thanks HDLarry...reading everyone on here rave about the gains, most seem happy with the upgrade...I'm wondering the downside, if any... you must have a good tuner or be one yourself? not sure...Can you still putt around with these cams as well?

not really a downside, except for maybe some top end power but you can't have it both ways with cams. However, to get the best out of the cam Larry is right - you may need other upgrades too - its a mixture of everything that gets the performance you are after and it is not an easy thing to achieve. Depends on what you are after really. This cam is designed for torque meaning you may want other mods designed for torque to bring the cam to life.

Just got my bike back from Scott at Full House.
He put my Woods 650 W6HF in.
Also took .030 off the cylinder.

It's got scary (for me) off the line and anytime power. I don't spend a great deal of time riding in the 4000 + RPM range so this cam is perfect for me. It is instant "throw you off your seat" response.

You can definitely "feel" the 117" growling.

It's certainly louder. In fact I might need louder pipes to mask the noise in the heads. Sounds a bit like an open belt drive.

Also, my Decel Pop is now more of a Decel Bang!!

Loving it so far. Thanks to all those on the forum who provided input, took their time to share their experiences and/or even picked up the phone for a question.

I learned a tremendous amount about engines from you folks in the process.

if you change to a smaller carb, or a PSI, you may notice even more of a difference. The G is more for top end power and probably not the best for your new cam - depends how far you want to take it really

Thanks Sul. I'll check it out. I've always had a bit of pop when letting off the throttle hard around 2750 - 3500 rpm. Seem to have a bit more now.

I got about 450 miles on the new cam this past weekend.
It really is pretty wild. My brother and I swapped bikes so I could watch and listen to him tear away from me at blistering speed. You really do have to hold on.

The 117" runs a bit warmer now. I cured the valve train noise with a pair of earplugs for the longer rides. I'll never ride more than 50 miles without them again. Wish I had used them when the bike was stock... both days :D

I'm running an 82 main at sea level right now with no issue. Used a little Lucas Injector as well.

I've got some hesitation in response just above idle that I'll need to figure out or will solve itself with the addition of a new carb. I'll add some extra gaskets for the decel pop as well.

Couldn't stop smiling all weekend. Blows away any other mod I've made so far... Until i get my seat from Beezerchopper of course.

i'm surprised you have valve train noise ,,,installed woods 650 cam and his springs, and there is literrally no noise, i have a 05 with the tp rocker covers that are known to be noisy, but it all just went away.

I don't have the noise either - at least nothing you could hear over the exhaust

Well thanks to sul looks like I'll be joining the ranks of the woods followers, only difference I will be running the more radical W9F which will require a minimum of 10.8:1 and a bit more work than just shaving the cylinders. Hoping to be able run without carrying a bottle of octane boost with me. I will also be doing a full port job on the heads as well as milling them down. The 256 duration needs some compression.
