..Yea I asked if I could have it sent to me and install it my self and Jason didn't have a problem with that but Amy said she needed to check with the Warranty dept... I called Full Throttle last week to price one just incase I needed to pay for a new one and they didn't have any in stock... If a dealer needs to install it I will go to F.T. Maybe during the Open house?? But I will NEVER return to American Cycle Liars

Okay I have a question that someone may be able to help with. On the original Recall where they put on pigtail for the effected model of 05, upon reading the Recall, it indicates that EHC with later S/N than those with recalls will be compatiable with the pigtail though it is not needed.

"Electronic harness control modules with a serial number of 1995 or above (P/N: 170-
000001-00) will not need the ignition harness resistor pigtail but is compatible with the
resistor pigtail assembl"

So if they put a pig tail on mine under the recall, and did not change to a later EHC (which I am pretty sure they did, my last one was P/N 171-000015-00, mfg date 0632, S/n 01132) or even if they did and did not remove pigtail, does it have to be removed verse can be removed? In short even if not needed, will it hurt anything? Also I have just changed my EHC to a brand new one (with the USB) and did it myself, but if for some reason that pig tail is still on there from a recall, will it hurt to leave it alone?

Also went through the list on the orignal recall, and my Mastiff is not listed, the project number before and after and most all the others, but not mine specifically. WTF was I one of the few 2005 Mastiff that had something different in between runs then all the others? Interesting for sure.

If it will create a problem, will take it off, but as many know it is a major PITA to get at it. If it not hurting anything regardless if not needed, will leave it on.

Curious also if BDM put out an official TSB or something to their dealers saying that it had to be removed if changing over, for the orginal Recall allowed .6 hours to do so and thus it would make sense to allow another .6 hours of labor to removed the bugger if needed when changing out to a new style EHC if required.

FYI my Red Light does flicker also or at least appears to on the new one. Runs fine BTW.

Thanks

FS, I went through this last fall when I completely re-did all the wiring on my bike and found that pig-tail. I emailed BDM and was told if I have a later model (Non-clear potted) EHC then I could remove it. I told them that my latest replacement was clear potted and I guess they looked it up and told me I could still remove it cause they still made some later models with clear potting.
I pulled mine before I did the cross country trip so several thousand miles later I'm still running strong. But on those long lonely stretches of road I think about that pig-tail!!! :D

Ohlmster told me we don't need them anymore if you have any updated EHC.

If it makes you feel better I would pm Ohmster and ask him with your S/N'd EHC.

Did you have the recall done yet (re locate ECM) My 05 was doing the same thing until they re located the ECM. I thought it was bull Shit but it worked!!!!!!

BBChop,

If you meant me, yes I had the ECM recall done and to the best of my knowledge every other one that applied. More just curious if by chance that Pigtail is still on there, would it hurt to leave it with what I know is the latest (we will see if it the greatest or not) EHC. Do not want to go through the hassle of removing the coil cover to get at it if it will not hurt anything if still there. If there is any question though, I would rather err on the safe side and remove it, but if not needed leave best alone.

I'll check with the kennel on Wednesday and see if Tech Support can tell me for sure.

As far as the pigtail i.e. "resistor" if you have the newer EHC with the USB style diag connector it has the resistor built in to the EHC and the in line one is no longer needed... Now Ohmster did say he has not heard of any issues related to this resistor being left in... That being said all I know is that since I removed it and installed the B+ and B- wires from the EHC on the bottom of the stack of wires connected to the battery I have had no cutting out problems....
