One option I haven’t seen mentioned is to just take your circuit board from your hand control to your local electronics tech and have him repair or rebuild it.

I’m going to have to disagree with you on that. It doesn’t come with a new headlight or blinkers or a new starter either, but what it supposedly does come with is everything you need to replace your old EHC ( a new computer box and the wiring harness for the new computer that is supposed to be plug in and go). The PDM kit from BDM was similar in that it came with the wiring harness that already had the plugs on it.

I think that the high price is only unreasonable when you don’t need one. If you NEED one, then it isn’t so bad (compared to new bars and switches).

Hi Guys,
I'm going to respond to the parts of this thread that involve me: These are solely my opinions and I will not respond to any further comments.
1). RIP kits to Sweden:
I personally shipped the 10 RIP kits to Sweden with a large parts order. When there was confusion, KMW stepped up to the plate with any option for resolution: Return, refund, rework, coach, counselor, etc. They offered everything and it all worked out.
2). Other replacement kits:
We scrapped all of the remaining BDMPP PDM kits when we bought the company. They were way too complicated and over engineered like most BDMPP products. Too many areas for failure.
3). Original EHCs:
We own the tooling and have the ability to reproduce all of the original EHCs. However, this, once again is an over engineered, complicated, unreliable component. KMW RIP kits far exceed functionality, cost and reliability.
4). Derek and Donna are hard to contact:
So true! We have invested millions of dollars and 11 years of life dealing with the politics and mismanagement of BDM and later BDMPP. But, rest assured, the last thing we want to do is miss out on sales. There are only two of us. I personally watched the failure of a wonderful company because of lack of involment by the owners/managers.
That said, we are also human, we are farmers, we are a father and mother with extended families and we also like to live outside this Red screen you all are viewing.
Right now we're sitting on a lake in New Hampshire taking a break from your drama. If you leave a message, and you're not an idiot, we always call back. We never want you to be stranded and we always want your business!
5). PCB switches:
As Matt stated, we have recently completed the process of re-engineering the original PCB switch from 2010. We had to refurbish original tooling and make new tooling for the PCB with removeable Hamlin sensor. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but when you're dealing with tooling for 1000s of components, it's very difficult. We have a lifetime supply shipping next month and the cost will be below anything you have been used to. These are complete assemblies with the correct silicone membrane and PVC double shot keys. You will never be without. We are also setting up vendors so you'll always have access to parts.
6). So called Big Dog experts:
We send people to this site every day for technical advice and fitment questions. For the most part, the advice and knowledge on this forum can't be beat. God knows, I'm the last person you want working on your bike!
Here's some free advice from a guy that's been around Big Dog in good times and bad:
The boys at KMW and C.A. Jones have forgotten more about Big Dogs than most folks on here will ever know. Curtis at WSW is very knowledgable and one of the best supporters of Big Dog motorcycles out there. All though he never did time in Wichita like the rest of us, he knows his stuff and is a very good person to deal with. This forum is lucky to have Matt, Curtis, Doug, Will, Jason, and don't forget Franco!

Thank you for the Dash, was waiting for me yesterday. Now just trying to figure if I change it out as is, or send it off to Ed and have it all painted up during the off season.

Good to hear on the right and left side switches. Good to possibly have a source if one of those goes out.

That's one of the reasons WSW chose to ally itself with KMW as a dealer.

I'm interested, the EHC thread on the electrical. No comment from Andrew or Curtis. Could the ignition switch be a large contributing factor to the EHC's going out, since the undersized ignition switch was causing wiring to pull too many amps. The relay we installed took care of the problem and brought the amps down to a very low #. This is the original switch on my 03 chopper.

Your 03 electrical system is completely different than 04-up. Ignition switch is a major problem with these years, but no one really knows if this is a factor in EHC failure.

I purchased a Sporster ign switch for my rewire and it fits the org BD hole but is very heavy duty. That might solve a few problems out there.

I have one too that I bought at tractor supply but it won't fit in my dual coil bracket. It too is very heavy duty but a hair too big for the hole... (that sounds cool!):lol:

Well well well.... and here I am now 300 miles away from home and my Yellow Bitch said "I am stopping right here"..... the Mother Fucker has decided to leave me stranded.... I cant really see the PC screen with this shite PC... so I will report later..... I am going to dring a Sangria and then I will have a chat with my Dog!!!!

I know it has nothing to do with the debate in this thread but I am just reporting...... I will read later indoors.... cant see jack shit now.... :rant: :angry:
