$800 for EHC???

Was at my local BD dealer yesterday and mentioned that I fried a EHC and had an old one on it now. I said that I would probably get a new one soon but no rush. They asked if I knew the price for the BD EHC now.

I said last time for my 05 is was around $300, they told me not anymore and that now to get a BD EHC it was around $800:eek::eek:

After getting over the shock, I asked it they were speaking of the older ones for like the 04 and earlier and they said no that the 05 and newer were around $800.

Holy shit Batman is all I can say. I guess I will go for the WP when I get around to replacing it. Evidently the new ones are so expensive due to possibly BD having to have them made up from a new supplier or maybe due to shortage or something, but if the $800 is even close, no F*#king way.

The shop did tell me that they had ordered a couple of WP for some customers and will be putting their first two on soon and see how they work out.

For now, my original will have to do and seems to be good with exception of no Oil Pressure light due to when I original broke that pin!!

Oh the bike is running now and just will be checking the Voltage Regulator and stator to make sure they are working good and (cross the fingers) will be good to go and back on the road soon. No rush yet, getting plenty of miles on the Buell between the 240 mile daily commute and the occasional weekend ride in the hills.

Safe tiding to all and Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there.

WoW! I suspect that the dealers may be passing on some of the screw-job they're getting from what's left of the BDM Plant.....

I think you have the right idea -- ride the piss out of it till it dies then change out the harness =)

I am sure that the dealer is getting some of their share out of it, but this dealer has never screwed me over or out to gouch a customer. So far as I know and based on my experience with the dealer, I am sure that the new EHC have gone up a great deal.

The dealer is going to be installing the WP on a couple of bikes for customers soon.

If BDM has raised them to that high, imagine what it is costing them for warranty replacments on the bikes.

Give me $800 for the wire plus unit, and I'll fly there and install it for you!!! :)
Damn you must work cheap and have a hell of deal on flight to do so.

Way I figure the WP is about $580 for the Module, Key Switch and Din connector and figure at least a couple hours of work.

When my old EHC goes, will go towards the WP if the newest BD replacements are in that $800 range. Figure I can do it myself, but may a close one if someone was to replace with the BDM EHC verse a WP when a stealer does it if one consider the labor involved.

At this point though, sounds like the WP is the way to go for replacements for most people.

Somewhat tempted to make the jump for it. Also saw another one with both harness for a good price. On the fence though for since it is off eBay, never know what you get or the history of such and do not want to get stuck with one that is dead or will be dead shortly after out of the gate. If I bought one from dealer, it may take a little longer before it goes dead.

Condition: New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. I saw that, but the picture shows an un-packaged one. My concern would be to get one in no package or something that may not be original (last one I bought came in a seal plastic tinted bag.

More than likely good for someone that needs it, still at little shy myself.
