I have the 585 and love it. It made a very noticable differance. More power and torque from low to high end..Not as noisey as my buddys 600. and Mine is faster and I weigh 80 pounds more than him..

Take your time and clean all parts as you go, re-adjust valves, clean all parts as you go drink a beer or two and clean all parts as you go. 3-4 hours taken your time and cleanin al parts as you.

Locktite will not stick to oily or greasy parts. When I disasemble I throw my bolts and nuts in a small pan of cleaning solution to soak while I'm workin.

I went with the Woods .590 W8 cam pulls good.

Lot of 600 cam stuff and numbers. Nothing on the 585 other than a lot of :2thumbs: from those that did go that way including me. Bike pulls much better now than with the 546:eek: Some say about 10% with the air and exhaust done first?

If you have a 2005 bulldog. Hell you most likely already have a 600 cam w/the good springs and higher comp. The latter dogs they started to EPA.

Just sayin:2thumbs:

05 was the EPA year. I had the 585 and the E carb. I converted to the 600 and G Carb. Definitely a difference in sound and performance compared to a 585 and E.

05 brought many changes to the BDM line like the 117 motor, E carb, smaller valves and double springs. Plus the TP rocker boxes that were used due to them being quieter. EPA is sound as well as emissions! This along with the RSD, DSSC, DD6 and others.
But the cam was still a .569 or .579.

06 they went back to the G carb after they figured out it still met EPA requirments.

I don't think the .546 cam came out till a couple years ago with they started the EFI (but I could be wrong).

Damn corrected by Ray again. Even makes more sense now that I had something smaller than a 585. Wonder if Beezer will hire me part time after hours to better educate me. :) Guess I need to stick to seats but I'm about done with that too.

Is there a thread with pics showing the install of a 585? I did not find one with the search. Not super mechanical but get by with a little help from my friends.

the 05 also came with the restrictor plate but not sure which was the stock cam for the 05's?
The 585 or similar seems like the way to go if you don't want to spend all that extra $$$ and clean up the heads will help.
