As I promised last year before I had to deal with my dad's serious downturn in health and then his death, I have finally finished the 4" Forward Control Extension Kit. I installed a .585 cam in my bike last night and posted it in the "How To" section in the early hours this morning. Today I finally installed the 4" kit I have had laying around for months.

Here is the kit ready to install.

Removed the shifter side forward control.

Installed extension plate

Reinstall the forward control in the "Clocked" position

Replaced the foot control

Here is the clearance of the shifter arm with the shortened bolt and spacer

Here is the brake extension of the factory banjo fitting

Remove the brake forward control

Install of the extended banjo fitting

Install of the extended plate

Factory plate requires this hole to be drilled out(remove threads) to allow bolt to pass thru the plate

Installed brake assembly

A quick bleed of the brakes and I am ready to roll!

View of the extended controls

A quick bleed of the brakes and I am ready to roll to the Blueridge Rally next weekend if the weather allows!

A photo of me in a much more comfortable riding position

At 6'2" I am finally comfortable!

In regard to going into production. I sent the templates to the KAPTIN last year after completing the 6" kit for the POSTMAN. I have been out of the loop for a while with taking care of my parents needs. I really don't know where he stands on production of the kits. If he is not able to make it happen, I might be able to get a local fabricator to make some up. I don't want to step on the KAPTIN'S toes if he is going to be able to get it done for you guys. I am not lucky enought to have a lot of spare time even after my dad's death. LINX, I haven't forgot about you, I'll read your PM and get back to you.

For the time being, I suggest everone PM the KAPTIN and let him know that you are ready and see if he is about there for releasing the kits.

Sent a e-mail to the Kaptin and he said that he is gearing up for production of the extension kits. All interested parties should contact the Kaptin(aka Curtis) @: dmcustommachine.com, this is the Vendor web address in our vendor section, the aol.com address I gave you earlier has been changed and is incorrect. Try the dmcustommachine.com web address to contact the Kaptin and it should work for you. Sorry guys!!

Bowhunter/Steve - thanks a million for your efforts, really appreciate the pics & detail. really 1st rate! you do look comfy! I am 6'3 so I'm going to contact the kaptin & let him know "I WANT A SET"! 4" looks about right, I bought a 2.5 set from 'Big Dog' but never got around to doing the install, now I'm glad, I'd much rather have the 4" setup, guess I'll sell the 2.5 set to someone here, (still in the original package)

Email sent. THANKS!!!

Update: Unfortunately for some reason the email link dmccustommachine@aol.com was rejected. I have also PM'd Kaptain directly last week as well but no response yet. I'm pretty sure from threads he's out and about with Raywood but any help getting in contact for these cool extensions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey guys, I have his e-mail address and I asked him if it was OK to put it on the forum and he asked me to give the address I gave you. I know the company that he and Raywood are showing is in the Vendor section of this forum and the website address is:
dmcustommachine.com, this will work for you guys and I have sent him another e-mail and let him know that the address I posted earlier is not working. Sorry!

Interesting reading all your post but makes me a little nervous. I'm picking up my 2005 Ridgeback on Saturday. The owner has 3" forward controls & is 6'7". I'm between 5'10" & 5'11". Anyone know if I'll even be able to reach the controls to get it home? Will I want to go back to stock..Any help with your Bog Dog expertise would be appreciated. I am just getting off a Yamaha Warrior & moving to my dream bike.

I guess it just depends. Like me, I'm 6'2" and wanna do the forward extensions, but I'm mostly torso. Everyone is built different.

By the way, I've had a Warrior...you'll like that Big Dog a lot better! Warriors feel too much like a crotch rocket to me. You'll feel like you're sitting "in" the bike instead of "on top" of it.
