If you really want to rule out the spark plug wires stick a nail or something metal in the coil hold it with your hand, put your other hand on a good ground such as the cylinder head and have somebody crank the bike. If you don't piss yourself its not your wires.

As DRB said don't undo any of the screws under the pickup/camcover nose cone. will cause more problems later.

Where are you located that you can't just go to a dealer HD, BD, Big Twin and pick up a coil?

lol you hold it in you hand  i have a coil ordered but still think its the cam sensor thats bad

i would leave things alone at this point, youve already ordered a coil, hang loose for the weekend dude, have some cold ones, watch some movies, stay on here its friday things might get crazy, dont take out your cam sensor till your sure, when you take it out mark the slots and plate so you put it back in the same place, like ryan seacrest would say im out:whoop::cheers:

Good pics! know sit back and drink with us until you get your coil. If you know where a early 90's harley big twin is you might be able to get it tonight but just wear sneakers and be ready to run. It will happen soon enough. I know how you feel when somethin of mine is broken or apart it drives me nuts to get the shit back together and thats usually when I f**k it up. Take your time do it right and it will be all good

Point by Mobsta: Heat shields are for you not the engine :2thumbs:

Whiskey and coke here

So you know, the slots in that plate allow you to move it slightly clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the timing.

With that in mind what I would do at this point is to make a few marks like in the pic...

... remove those two long screws with a slotted screwdriver and see what's on the other side since I've heard nothing that would make me think the coil is bad.

As long as you make accurate marks BEFORE to take it apart then reassemble it exactly like you took it apart you'll have no problems.

If you decide your mechanical aptitude is up for it let's see what you find! If not, just kick back and wait for the coil. If the new coil doesn't fix the problem we can continue to troubleshoot from there... your choice. :D

PS How are you with a multimeter?
