Ker, 14k isn't much on a bearing, was that on a 1st or 2nd tire change?
Gil, quite a few posts regarding bearings. I believe along with a few others actually a lot of squish tubes are a touch to long and put too much load on the bearings but I don't have the tools to shave it off so I've left it.
The OEM bearings are cheap Chinese bearings you can get the Timkins and change them every 20-30k or the cheap Chinese ones and just chuck them every tire change for peace of mind. I'm sure you can get 20k+ out of the stock bearings but at $10 for the front or rear in my opinion I just swap them out every tire change.
I bought a pack of 10 for the front and rears and call it a day. Comes out to $2-3 p/bearing. Ker posted the link pack of 10 with free shipping.
This was my rear bearing after only 10k. If you do any riding in the rain the seals are not the best on these bearings. Just the way it is.
