Like most have said, we are all glad Big Dog is back and wish you the best of luck. Everyone understands you gotta build what will bring customers and make money. It's always smart to move foreward and that's what your doing. From what I've seen the younger generation gravitating toward, you should do well with the new design and as long as you continue making bikes like the K9 and Mastiff too, which apparently your doing you will fill the wants of many and that's the goal. Although it's not the style of many on this forum, it's a smart move and for what it is, it looks great. And I bet it rides and handles amazingly!

That hideous monstrosity will certainly test the capabilities of Big Dog salesmen. The only positive thing I can think to say about it is that the tires appear to have air in them.

Aw come on now, It aint that bad! Like I said, with a couple minor changes, (rear fender and bigger rear tire) I'm kinda liking it :yesnod::old2::old2:

My first thought when I saw the picture, was it was reminiscent of the HD XR style. It's kind of cool with that tank. I think the tank flows right into that front end which gives it an appearance of being a beast. I could definitely see it in a terminator movie.

It is a big difference in what we have always seen but I believe this will attract new business. I'll share this with our BDB community,

Here is a perfect example:

There is an engineer at my company whom is pretty new. He graduated college last year so obviously young. He is currently a student in one of my classes. He has seen my 05 Ridgeback and my buddy's Pitbull and he is not a fan... I sent him a couple of pictures of the new Boxer... His text literally says "That bike is badass! What is that?" The icing on the cake for him was learning of the 124ci S&S engine on that style bike.

The point is I believe it's a step in the right direction for Matt and the team to attract new business and a younger generation. Whatever keeps them going and the doors open and producing our beloved Big Dog Motorcycles. IMO, the 2016 K9 is next to flawless, and the Boxer, as I've said, not my style but a very nice bike. The Mastiff is pretty cool as well. Gotta do a bagger now.

Great job to Matt and the team!
I agree Justin with one exception. Ya gotta sell em.. Younger or older sitting on the show room floor, lookin good ain't gonna get-r-done. I like the bagger idear someone brought up that is appealing to me at my age. As I see this vehicle it looks like a crotch rocket wanna-a-bee. Great paint job (Ed) but 35k+. I don't see it (don't care about the quality or 24k gold paint what ever the excuse to raise the price may be) but I'm just an old guy. I can zip down to the local Suzuki dealer, pick up a Hayabusa screamer for just under 15k. Hmmm 35k or 15k? This is why I stayed away from HD motorcycles for so long. Overpriced!! Hell the only reason I got an HD was because my wife wanted a tri-glide (and that was friggin 28k). IMHO ya gotta move em out of the show room otherwise, your outta business. The original price points for BDM's of 32k is still too much IMHO.. I wish them good luck. I hope I'm kicking myself in the arse in 5 - 10 years (if I'm still here). I do love my K9..

I agree with you, they must sell for sure. I'm sure there idea is to hit the younger base with it as a street fighter with a massive engine and I hope they do well and can move them. They may already have a backup plan, just in case it doesn't sell, to produce it for a short amount of time (just a backup plan idea). Either way I wish them the best of luck. We all want them to succeed and continue producing.

Only time will tell :old2:

Looks like most of the parts can be bought for this bike.if this is the case, it would be simple to change design. I just don't see a lot of kids with 30 grand sticking out of their pockets. Hope I'm wrong.

That would be another good plan as well. True, I certainly don't know many with the check book to cover at that age.

Amen brother! We will certainly see how it goes, hopefully well, but you are absolutely right about younger guys having that kinda money laying around, hopefully they have good credit!

So the K9 is still in production. The Mastiff is available. A bagger could be in the works (I will not confirm or deny that). The key models, the heart of our business is still being produced. We mix it up and add a new model that is geared for a younger customer base and you would think by reading this thread we cancelled all other models and are going to produce the Boxer only.....
Matt,
Think it's great with new concepts and upgrades but just thinking if you are going to completely change the bike then why not give it a new model?

Strange hybrid between a Cafe Racer and a Chopper. Heck, make it to real caferacer that would be pretty cool.

The way I see it, BD would benefit from entry level bike, say simple old skool bobber. But I am not a businessman, nor a bike builder.

Can't say I'm sold on the new style, but I sure would like to take it for a rip up the coast.
Looks like a fun ride in tight space.

I have to think a diverse lineup puts them in a position to survive lean times

Lot's of negative about the bike... I think it's awesome. I like bikes, period. This is like an old school RATT bike to me, I hope BD jumps into and sells 100's or 1000's, as long as they can stay solvent and make money, Continue to produce the bikes (we) like (Mastiff in my case), and continue to grow again becoming another great American company.

I'm sure the paint job is very well done but it's a bit too busy for that minimalistic style of bike. I think the matching trees and other little detail lines is not needed. The bike design on the other hand looks to be a mix of several styles and it's not sure what it wants to be. The front end of the bike seems to be a bit weighted to the eye compared to the rear. They will figure it out and it will be a hit.
