Pulled the bike out for the firs time this year. Started up and was sitting on it warming it up and the speedo just goes dark. Everything else works just fine. Anyone got any ideas what could have happened?

Thanks

I go out about 5min later turn the key still no speedo. I check everything again and everything works but the speedo. So I start it and still no speedo then it lights up and is working again. Turn everything off then turn the key and it works again. We need a scratch head emotion.

Sounds like a connection is loose. Start tracing from the speedo.....
Thanks , it must be I have tried it about 4 mores times and it is working fine. Do the wires run down inside the electrical covers? I was in there last year looking for a loose wire so maybe I moved something around.

IDk about this one, but I do know that its a LCD display, and they do go bad eventually. But from my understanding there is no replacement available, well not like the one you have. Ppl with baggers we should really get to thinking about this one soon. I had thought about just going with a Dakota Digital like in the Mastiff but not sure it will work? Besides the Baggers were there any other bikes that used this Speedo, I know the manufacture is either no longer in business or maybe just stopped making these, I can't remember for sure. Maybe we need to make another Forum and ppl can put in what they know for sure to find replacements similar to what we have or completely custom that will plug and play?? Ernie really hope you figure it out...

Thanks but its not really Rocket science if its just an LCD. We should be able to get them repaired by someone who is into that kind of stuff. It is unique to our bikes because of the gas gauge , oil light and so on. So right now its working fine but if it keeps giving be trouble I will find someone who can fix that kind of thing. Hell Steve Jobs built the first apple computer in his garage. Where there is a will there is a way.

Yeah I forgot about the gas light on it, I usually just go by mileage, 120 miles get gas...lol. Oh, have you put the .585 cam in yours yet? I did and all I can say is DAMN.... why didn't I do it sooner. Still needs a little more mileage to adjust the maps in the VFI but I am very pleased with the performance the bagger now has...

No I have not touched the engine yet. I guess I would have to get an unlocked VFI to upgrade that much.

I had a 2010 Bagger for a couple of years, and my speedo did the same thing. One time it just didn’t work for an hour or so—and then suddenly started to behave. I was on a tour with Blacktopper and maybe Eric too....When I went to fill the tank, the speedo read 75 or 80 miles less than the guys I was traveling with, so the computer didn’t log the miles either.
Then on a couple of chilly mornings, the bike wouldn’t start until we ran a Hair dryer on it to heat it. I finally replaced the EHC because I didn’t want to risk getting stranded somewhere out west with a bum EHC on a Big Dog Bulldog Bagger and no shop able to work on it.... and no way to do it myself.
The Medallion speedo worked perfectly after that, so it wasn’t the speedo itself.

I had a similar thing happen on my 2010 bagger also except my brake rear brake lights were intermittent also. I sent my EHC to Curtis to be checked. The EHC was good but the on the readouts from it showed that my ignition had like over thousands of hits. I replaced my ignition switch and that resolved my speedo issue and brake light issue.

I should add that it was probably well over a year between thr first event and replacing the EHC. The bike was running ok, just experiencing an intermittent issue when it was cold. As I r

After sitting for months, my bikes sometime's don't act right. But after a start up, warm up, things seemed to fix themselves. As for my bagger, so far so good. I do have the EFI light come on here and there. Somethimes it's on for day's somethime's off. Runs the same either way. Since I have a wire plus installed, I just chalked it up to that. Not long ago there was a Medallion speedometer for sale on Ebay.

I been having the same problem just like Aspen had when my Speedo stops working my running lights won’t work either. I’m prob gonna jink it but it’s been doing fine here lately. I gotta send the EHC to Curtis. Just don’t want to be with out the bike.

Did you see how much he wanted for it, not to mention it was as is. I contacted him about it and asked him if it didn't work and I sent it back do I get a refund and his reply is once in your hands its yours.

I wouldn't either after what all you've done to it. But if you sent it off to him, I'm sure he would have you back up and running within a few weeks at most.

Yes he was asking the same price as a new one. Looks like someone bought it.
