2007 K9 feedback please

DOGESTYLE
Just sold the 07 Bulldog and looking at a 2007 K9. Can you give me the good and bad from your experiences. Riding and mechanical experiences would be much appreciated. What should I look out for etc. Since I am going from fuel injection to carb, should I experience a different trottlr response? My EFI was running lea in my opinion and would go into parade mode when in traffic. Should the carb bike run coller?

Thanks for your help

Carb, if jetted correctly, will run cooler. My biggest turnoff to EFI is the EPA controls the specs in that they run lean on purpose for emissions purposes...which is BS.

W EFI, if it dies...youre done on the side of the road. With Carb, you have options, you control the tuning, you can change carbs, etc...

Just my 2c

my 07 K9 has been great. Had one broken clutch cable and at almost 19k I've got a compression release sticking and a headlight short that just started

No problems with my 06 K9. It's my favorite bike I've ever owned....it rides so true and strait, and like a caddy. Hard to believe it's a 9 ft long chopper.

The mechanics on your other 07 should be pretty much the same other than the carb.

My 07 k9 has been nearly perfect. 40,000 miles 1 clutch cable, 1 clutch hub nut came loose, 1 set of head gaskets (10.5 compression ratio), and 1transmission seal.

I would by another one in a heartbeat.

My 07 K-9 is carbureted. No problems there. I had an 04 HD springer which was EFI. I don't see any noticeable differences. My clutch cable snapped at the ferrule at 8k. My clutch hub nut comes loose every 5k give or take. Starter started to leak some oil. Still starts though. The speedo bounced like a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. I replaced that with a Dakota Digital. So far an outstanding speedometer. I didn't know I drove that fast now that I can see an accurate read. And every time I ride down the road I grin from ear to ear. Best damn bike I ever owned!!!

'09 K9 here, my all-time favorite bike! I have had a lot of bikes in my life and nothing else comes close to fitting me and my style of riding like this bike. Much prefer the carb model to the EFI model due to ease of tuning.

07 K9

I have to confer with all the comments here. I rode a metric cruiser for 10 years and thought I was crazy to move to a chopper. I am loving every minute of my '07 K9 and wish I would have done it sooner.

The biggest kick I get is the reaction from friends and family that can't believe an ole gray haired guy like me is riding that puppy. :whoop::whoop::cheers:

I always get a  as I ride down the road. People just love BIG DOG motorcycles.

My '07 has 11k on it, one broken clutch cable (at 4-5k) and now a clutch issue that started the other day. I'll get to that in a couple of weeks.

I ride my bike hard and fast, frequent burn outs just because I can (it's a guilty pleasure). I think the clutch needs adjusting, the lever is not fully returning after releasing it.

Otherwise, it's been a blast! :2thumbs:

12K on ours. Only issues were when the primary oil was over-filled.
Chasing the jetting a bit now after the cam change.

I "grew up" with Harleys, but the K9 was love at first sight and I've never looked back.

I have had no mechanical problems other than of my own doing. Did replace the Thunderheart stock EPA ignition module with a real one. Doherty Power Pacc. Added an oil pressure guage... Some jetting changes due to the V&H radius pipes, still playing with that.

Have some (good?) excuses for low mileage, but that will change with my planned "Ride Across America". Will be adding Chesapeake Machine levers and a 585 cam as part of this trip. Being and "Old Fart", it has PLENTY of power, but the stock EPA cam is just fighting against itself.

There is an excellent American Iron article on tuning the Super G, complete with pictures. Give me an email address via PM and I'll be glad to send it to you.

Being a HOG officer, have done some parades. Heat somewhat depends on throttle control, but any bike will run hot in a parade. Cool down ride after, before shutting down...

Being of a fellow of non-standard altitude, the 9 has been the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden.
Must be... patient(?) through the tignt twisties.

Riding in Alaska, I do wish that it had a larger gas tank.
I spend a lot of time pampering the damthing, but that's what we have long Winters for up here.

I love this bike, and plan on riding it 'til the day I die!
