I "grew up" with Harleys, but the K9 was love at first sight and I've never looked back.
I have had no mechanical problems other than of my own doing. Did replace the Thunderheart stock EPA ignition module with a real one. Doherty Power Pacc. Added an oil pressure guage... Some jetting changes due to the V&H radius pipes, still playing with that.
Have some (good?) excuses for low mileage, but that will change with my planned "Ride Across America". Will be adding Chesapeake Machine levers and a 585 cam as part of this trip. Being and "Old Fart", it has PLENTY of power, but the stock EPA cam is just fighting against itself.
There is an excellent American Iron article on tuning the Super G, complete with pictures. Give me an email address via PM and I'll be glad to send it to you.
Being a HOG officer, have done some parades. Heat somewhat depends on throttle control, but any bike will run hot in a parade. Cool down ride after, before shutting down...
Being of a fellow of non-standard altitude, the 9 has been the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden.
Must be... patient(?) through the tignt twisties.
Riding in Alaska, I do wish that it had a larger gas tank.
I spend a lot of time pampering the damthing, but that's what we have long Winters for up here.
I love this bike, and plan on riding it 'til the day I die!
