2003 Chopper Coil Cover

The other day I was looking at a few 2003 Choppers on the internet and I noticed something. My 2003 Chopper has a rounded, chrome coil cover with no logo or any other design on it. One of the 2003 Choppers I noticed had a completely different coil cover. The cover was flat and had the older BDM logo on it along with "107 Cubic Inches" I was just curious to the difference. Did I just see a 2003 Chopper that had been modified with a different BDM coil system, or did BDM just use two different coil covers on the 2003 chopper? If so, is it the same coil system with just a different cover? In other words, can either cover be used on the 2003 Chopper coil?

Mine

One that I saw on another 2003 Chopper

Thanks.

Luke, your's looks just like mine on the 04 Pit. Mine has a 10 year logo on it. That would be the only difference. I think the flat ones were the original 03's. Like Slick said, your's could be an end of the year bike and they just put on the newer style coil cover.....?

My last 4 is 0535. Is it the same coil though? If I wanted to switch to the other coil cover as long as I had the above bracket it would work?

yea you just need the coil bracket and cover. That bracket looks fairly standard just need a Big Twin Coil Bracket. Make sure you get a Big Twin because it will include a spacer required for clearing the large fins on your 107".

You can check out www.vulcanworks.net they have a bunch of different options.

from the way it looks part #2 mounts, you would not have any way of tying the motor to the motor mount of the frame. am i wrong? unless there is another part that is not shown. finding it would be the key.

Wood, I would think you would be to still use the cameltoe mount for the frame. Although now that you mention it it appears that mount doesn't really have a hole in the center for it.

I posted the link the vulcan works website their motor mount comes with that piece.

Luke, the coil cover you have is an upgrade. The older flat ones was causing a lot more vibrations. Those of us that have the old flat one, have more that likely lost the bolt out of the L-bracket, where it bolts to the frame, a time or two. I wish I had the newer one, I think it looks a lot better than the flat one

I have an 03 Chopper with the Rolling Thunder frame. There was a frame recall (top tube gusset installed) and BDM offered to install the upgrade 04 coil cover as part of the package. I requested the upgrade and to have my original cover returned.
