2002 Bulldog problem

Energy One

I've searched the forums looking for a solution but didn't have any luck. I was working on the indicator (idiot) lights on my 2002 Bulldog. After I got done I tried to start the bike and it wouldn't start. All lights work, engine turns over fine, but I don't have any spark at the plugs. When I first turn the ignition on the red light on the thunder heart ignition module comes on and then goes off. It does flash on and off while the bike is turning over. There is power to the lower wiring terminal on the coil and the ohm reading between the two terminals is around 3. The same thing happened yesterday, the bike would turn over but not start. I had a couple things to do in the house so I took care of those and went back out and tried to start the bike and it started. My first thought was that I had flooded it but apparently not. Does anybody have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 2002 pitbull and been having electrical problems also. I was ridin the other night went to race a camaro and bam as soon as got the rpms up about 5grand the head light goes out. nursed it home on bright only. put it in the garage and started taking it apart. I noticed the battery terminal had melted also, pos side. So im thinking time for new VR. OK new battery, new Vr, new headlight. now I turn the key on to start the bike and smoke comes from my gas tank. turn the key off take the speedo and mid section off the bike and look at the thunder heart control module. smells like smoke WTF??? Turn the key back on while Im looking at the module and right in the middle of the module it looks like there is a glowing red smoldering with smoke comming out? my Question is do you think there is a short circuit in the wiring somewhere or just the thunder heart gone out? What do you think guys?? Need help... I really dont want to spend the money on a new thunder heart module if I don't have too. If so is there something better to replace this with or is it best just to stay with whats on it. I just want to ride.... Thanks brothers Jessie PS I have read alot of the post and most of you guys have newer bikes and alot of the stuff that I read I dont think pertains to the 2002 models. I would like to know the best fix for this, and the easiest fix for this, then I will try to make up my mind which one I can afford to do. HAHAHA Thanks

I'm no expert on the electrical system on my bike, so my question is...does the ehc control the ignition or is the ignition a system of it's own and monitored by the EHC?? Like I said, everything on the bike works, all the lights, the starter everything I'm just not getting any spark at the plugs.
Coil maybe???

RC, if everything was good prior to you pulling the console then you missed something on the re-install. Go back and go over all the electrical wire very carefully and hopefully you will find the issue.

I wish I had more money.
If Oscar dosn't pick up my modual I will have one that you can pick up as well as the coil.

I was kind of thinking along the same line, but I talked to Thunder Heart and they said that working on the "console" should not affect the ignition. I checked the ohm reading on the coil both across the wiring terminals and the plug wire connections. I got 3 ohms at the wiring terminals and no reading at all across the plug wire connections. I got a new coil and thought I would check the ohm readings on it and I didn't get a reading across the plug wire connections on the new one either. Am I doing something wrong as far as checking the ohms on the coil???

Correct me if I'm wrong but you don't get a reading on the plug side till the ignition tells it to spark right? So are you checking for spark when it's running or turning over?
