2 up seat worth it?

I'm having a custom 2-up seat made with LOTS of gel pad and memory foam, plus having them build it up so there's some lower back support. This is the seat I'll mainly use for longer trips. I don't have a luggage rack, so I'll strap my bag onto the sissy bar, turn it around and sit it on the passenger portion of the seat for even more back support. And I'm definitely putting the protective film on my bike to protect its paint.

I too am looking for a 2-up seat. Bike is a rigid and the wife and I went on a 130 mile run yesterday. I have the suction-seat and she swears she'll never ride again with me until I get the 2-up with sissy bar. She had to soak in epsom salt that night. My cruiser had the passenger set up and she loved the ride. I was quoted at over $1,300 for just a sissy bar, no seat :down: . Looking for more resources before I go with this one dealer.

Big Dog pads the bottom of their seats pretty well, but I had a Harley where the paint was rubbed off under the seat :angry: after a long 2-up ride due to the stock seat NOT having adequate protection for paint :bang:

A paint job costs LOTS more than some protective film...better to be safe than sorry, that's my motto!

Are you lifting the tabs to release the suction cups or just pulling the pad up to get it off?

I'm not to thrilled at the look of the pillow pad with the seat so I picked up the 2 up seat. Looks better and there are a few members significant others prefer the 2 up seat. :cheers:

you can replace the cups. i have found them on ebay.
i take them off when i recover a seat or p-pad and now and then tear one so i keep a couple of both sizes around for just in case :up: .

i am recovering a 2 up right now and can tell you that the passenger section is larger than the p-pad and there is less lumbar support as that area of the seat rounds into the passenger area.
i sissy bar would be a be help to the passenger either way

I have an 03 Chopper and the two-up will stay in place even without the suction cups. They serve as more of a cushion, but the other factors that keep the seat in place are ....1. It is formed around the frame like the solo.....2. The 03 has a fastener in the fender that lines-up with a hole in the seat pan. The two-up is more comfortable than the p-pad.......so answer to the question....yes.

My wife luvs the 2-up seat and sissybar set-up. It's wider and has more comfort than the pad. She can relax to the point where she can almost fall asleep on the longer runs. So IMO get the seat and bar. Run the solo seat and remove the bar when you ride alone.

The backrest is the most important, closely followed by the seat, IMHO.
The backrest allows the passenger to relax, and move around a bit if needed.
On ours, the 2-up is actually quite comfy. Went 2500 miles in two weeks last summer.
The 120 mile gas tank, and my aged bladder help with extra breaks too...:lol:

Two up seats fit better, are wider for passenger comfort, do not fall off when pass is not sitting on it, easier to pack a lot of luggage and can be modified in more ways that you can imagine, look great. I had the p-pad to start, then got a stock 2 up seat and liked it a lot. Then I had Sterling Seats do me a custom with gel inserts, other modifications and I like it so much that it stays on the scoot and the solo seat is somewhere in the garage.
P-pad versus custom 2 up seat = Night and Day difference, no comparison.

Hello, I happen to be reading the Forum on 2Up Seats. I know this post is old, but wanted to ask if you had that seat made that you are referring too. If so, how have you liked it over the years? Do you have any pictures of it. Thanks

Which ever seat you decide on, you can purchase at most auto store's black automobile carpet. Cut is to size, and glue it on with some 3M spray adhesive. Works for me. And still use the clear film paint protector= double the protection. Just a suggestion.

I just bought the 2 up airhawk seat for my ridgeback. Tons better than the solo. Make sure you get the protective cover for your paint job.
