1st Peg Scrape

I scraped my first pegs today. I've had my K9 for about 4 months and put about the 800th mile on her today. In this tight, 3rd gear curve I vowed I'd just push harder instead of slowing down.

Unfortunately I scraped the right peg and the bottom of the V&H pipes at the same time. I admit the bottom of that pipe was already crimped, so I wasn't the first one to go that far.....Thankfully it was not as scary as I thought it might be. It made some noise but was uneventful otherwise. :) OTOH, I just got her back 3 days ago and welding the support bracket was one of the repairs. I was dreading breaking it again on the very first ride, but the bracket seems OK for now.

How do people cope with this ?

Get different pipes and increase the range on the right ?

Other ideas (other than slow down) ?

With all the winding roads here in MO, (some tighter than the Sisters), we destroy a lot of pegs, that why I wear steel caps on my boots, so I gauge how far over I am.

You can shorten your shocks, and raise the back of the bike up, will help too. Or get ahold of the Kaptin, he has new style of shocks that will fit your K9.

Damn -- I don't scrape a lot on the K-9, on my BMC, I used to kid that if I didn't scrape it means I didn't ride it that day.

My first K-9 I scraped enough(and this one) that I chamfered the edge of the pegs!

The only time I was worried was on the BMC when I was making a left from a parking lot nad one of the crew was too close to me on my right.
I leaned over hard enough that instead of scraping the kickstack, I buried part of it in the new asphalt and PIVOTed on that point to finish the turn.
Still had a clump of asphalt attached to the kickstand at the next stop! Could have been much worse -- glad it wasn't on a concrete highway!

Again I been riding my K9 for 13 years and never scraped

I've had my Pitbull for 13 years and it is rare that I scrape. After a while you learn just how far to push it.
