A similar thing happened to a buddy of mine with his car, the computer was storing too much info and shutting the car down, dealer suggested holding both the ground and hot wires together on the frame to dump the cookies. So If you disconnected the wires from the Battery and held the hot and ground wire together will it reset or clear so to speak the EHC?

Ok, this is where I'm at this moment. No one is hanging over my shoulder, and I can think. I tried the above to reset it. Everything is isolated, when I touch the wires to the battery, with the key on, all the red lights on the EHC, blink once and that's it.
I plugged all the little plugs back in, same thing. With the key off, the led's don't blink. When I touch the wires to the battery, with nothing hooked to the EHC, it still sparks.

Is the EHC plug removed from EHC or connected? Remove hot wire from battery to starter and see if the ground still sparks to eliminate the starter

Yea, that's what I'm going to do. The owner has a business up in St. Louis, were going to contact Gateway and see if they can do it, if not I'll call the Kaptin.

Brian, midstate68, on here, (I don't think he has ever done his intro) ordered a EHC from KMW. When it comes in, I'll let you know how the install goes.

You could send it to Jason or Curtis to check it.
Curtis just checked mine, said it's rock solid, nothing wrong with it at all, so the only thing I can figure is that there is a short somewhere in the harnesses, if it wasn't for me bypassing the ehc and running power directly to the ignition and installing a slam button the bike would not start! So now until I get my DOC's ESC I have to start it with the slam button, none of the run/start buttons function at all, the speedo and running lights work on and off again, headlight and rear brake lights work, no brake lights when I use the front brake at all, there's gotta be a short somewhere, I'll find out when I pull the harnesses and test everything!

Sell the old one on EBay recoup some of the costs to upgrade the EHC!

Shannon, I'm really confused what is going on. Without any wires connected to the battery if you have your meter on the negative battery terminal and ground it to a bolt or the frame do you still get 13v?

Or is the EHC backfeeding +13v? Doesn't make sense because I think your battery would have melted by now.

I was really confused also. I'm fairly good at electronics, and it had me really scratching my head. Even the old battery, when I hooked it up to the charger showed it was hooked up backwards. What ever happened to that battery, shorted something in the EHC. It has to be it, nothing else is hooked to it.
I have a new battery and a new EHC on the way. I have striped the bike and checked all the wires for wear, and connections. The bike only has 4500 miles on it. I'm sure the whole problem was that fancy ass, high cranking battery, he just had to have. I'm putting a Harley battery back in it. We got 6 years out of the one he had in his chopper, with no compression releases.

Update: Oh we ordered a new EHC from KMW, followed the enclosed instructions, and 5 hours later, the bike fired right up.
I did run into a few things people should know about.
1. Not all the wires were the same color, but it wasn't hard to figure out where they went.
2. This is where I think some people may have run into problems in the past, and you need to check carefully. I found one plug, that when they put the wires in it, they broke the little tang that holds the wire connector in the plug, and it pushed out when I plugged it together. I know the tangs were straight before I plugged it in.
3. removing the right shock, makes it a lot easier to get the wiring loom back on, and strapped to the frame.
4. when strapping the wires to the back bone, think streamline. You have to be creative to get them to lay in there good.
5. the bolts that held the old EHC in place, unscrew out of the module, then you will two 10-32 machine screws to screw into them to hold the new bracket in place.
All in all, it is a really nice unit, and all the switches work as the should.
Nothing like last minute repairs, before heading out for BBBBQ in the morning.

Glad you got it running but I'm a little confused, replacing the EHC, did you also replace the wiring harness or just remove it to inspect? or was it a completely different like RIP or a DOC unit?
