07 K9 Electrical Problems

Hola, another Big Dog that won't start. The weird thing is before the bike shipped from Houston to Vancouver Washington to me the bike was tested several times and started with no problems. Since I got the bike it won't start. I've replaced the battery and load tested it and everything seems to be plugged in or in other words no-lose connections that I can find. My question is should the EHC lights all be illuminated when the bike is running properly. All I am getting after the initial flash when the key is turned on is a steady yellow and a flashing green lite. The two are the closest to the PIN connector. If I hit the run button on the hand controls a red lite illuminates and stays on but that is it. HELP!!

Have you done any of the troubleshooting that was suggested to you in previous posts under different threads? If not, unplug the green wire connected to the starter solenoid. Connect a voltmeter, red lead to the green wire and black lead to ground. Turn the key on, then hit run, then hit start and look for voltage. What do you get? Do you hear a click?

Yes, I have tried everything so far. I will give the green wire a try. I do hear a click when I hit the start button providing the red lite that I referenced is on. I believe the click may be the compression releases going off. Any insight regarding the lites that are working I referenced in my post? Thanks!

Double check ground( tight). Double check battery terminals are tight. Call old owner and see what he says. A bad battery will make it where your bike won’t start. It sounds to me like your not getting enough juice to starter.

I appreciate the advice regarding the battery. I am more than confide that this is not the problem. It’s been replaced and load tested. What I am trying to determine at this point is the problem the EHC. It my understanding that the lites can tell me more. The bike only has about 3k miles and it’s an 07. It was also well maintained. It’s a mystery for sure.

The red lights on the EHC are fault lights. Read the attached file to learn more about how to read them. Disconnect the green wire and hit start. Do you still hear the click?? If so it's your compression releases making the click. At this point read the green wire for voltage. The voltage comes from the EHC. If it's good start checking your starter for issues. If it's low or no voltage there is a good chance your EHC is the issue. Come back with your progress for advice on what to do next. So far it seems that the battery has been load tested good and is sitting with 12.8 vdc ready for action.
Read page 8-3 for Power up fault circuit. The yellow light could be indicating a power up problem.

Thank you to everyone that has reached out to help me with this problem. Your advice has been most helpful. I’ve got some work to do now on the bike and I will report back in once I have figured this all out and fired up the bike. Hopefully my experience will help others going thru the same shit.
