Did I loose a post in this merry go around or is it just those drugs from the 70's coming back to haunt me as they said it would in all those school films in the 60's???
It was a duplicate so one of the Mods eliminated one of them as they were the same post except for a few comments.

Hopefully Prodiver will return and share some more with us on what caused the issues so this thead doesn't turn into a ##$%%^^&.

Want to keep the peace and make everyone happy here.

Prodiver, many good people here will help you and even share some parts with you if needed. This is a great forum for the owners of these bikes and we want you to be included.

3rd. Update

It would appear that I have stirred up quite a bit on this forum. To start with I have been on this forum since I purchased the bike in 06 and I apologize for no introduction. I have been on a lot of forums, H.D. Corvette and Viper and was never asked for an intro. I raced Corvettes for almost 10 years and then I went to a Viper. I do all my own engine work on this car and if I was just trying to stir up shit I would not have posted my email address. This motor was broke in exactly the way Big Dog recommended and not one time has it ever been over revved or run hard. I have a 72 Shovel that I built from the ground up and won a number of trophies with back in the 80s and it is still running strong. I had to hand build every part on it and it is a full custom. When I can I will post a history of the bike along with pictures of the motor. The shop that is doing the work is the only one in the Phoenix area that is authorized to work on Big Dog. Hacienda Harley Davidson. This motor never once hit the rev limiter. This is exactly what the dealership wrote on the repair order. "During Disassembly of engine the Tech found that the head of the exhaust valve in the rear cylinder broke off inside the combustion chamber. possibly from the exhaust valve guide breaking causing the valve to shift and snap the head of the valve off. There is damage to the intake valve, combustion chamber and piston due to the valve head beating around the combustion chamber. Recommend replacing the entire engine due to the force the engine flywheel assembly and connecting rods incurred during piston seizure. Found metal shavings in the intake and oil. Because there was metal found in intake and oil, tech recommend replacing oil lines and oil cooler as well. Motor from S&S $8,112.10. R& R engine 6 hours at $537.00 R&R oil cooler and lines, $89.50. Parts subtotal $355.00."
I did not in any way intend to offend anyone by saying the bike was a piece of shit. Big Dog stood behind every issue I had with the bike for 2 years. There was a lot of issues that caused a lot of down time. I am trying to answer as many questions as have been posted and that was not a spam post. Read the update I posted on 12/15. I really don't appreciate being called an asshole by some dumb shit that can't read. This was not the first time I have posted here asshole. I posted a number of times asking questions and helping other bikers out. I have the equipment and the know how to rebuild this motor but why should I when I paid for the extended coverage on it. Let the goddamn insurance co. deal with it. I don't give a shit how much the dealer want's to charge but it will be a 124 inch motor when it is replaced . I have 2 other bikes to ride so I don't give a damn how long it takes. The point I was trying to make is that the engine should have gone a hell of a lot more the 12k before it blew.

Good update. I was off on the cost of the motor by a $1000 dollars but then again the dealer will be more expensive.
As for the motor going......... I would say S&S has a great track record with not a lot of failures (to my knowledge anyway!). Did your bike have the TP rockers?
Still if your extended service agreement is going to pick up the tab then this is all academic! :D

Hope you are back on the road soon and enjoying the ride. By the way I think there are other Authorized Service Centers in your area. I have a list of them somewhere here. BDM always provides me a list of them for the states I cross when I'm on my long trips.

Good luck and glad you came back and updated us on this issue.

That's exactly what we all wanted to hear. With your experience I'm sure you realize that parts fail no matter what. Especially in a hot rod application. I am in no means saying your motor should've dropped a valve at 12k. If you have tp rockers then that is more than likely what caused the failure. The main thing is you are getting taken care of.

My problem was that these bikes aren't pieces of shit. They may let you down here and there but they are a solid bike. Good luck.....

I'm not an expert on forums, but is it possible to add a "gripe" section for members who want to gripe, than those who want to read them can go there and do so_On this thread there was no question to the members asking for help or advice and yet it went on for 8 pages, sometimes you gotta let off steam and it might be good to have a place to do it with out stirring the pot for doing so………just a thought…………Pills(back)and Jack at it again:cheers:

FYI. Mesa Victory Bigdog should also be able to do this work unless something changed very recently. They have worked on my K9 but I do like hacienda better. Glad to hear your warranty came through.
I have been told that hacienda has been cut off by Big Dog 2 times this past year so watch them

So did your 117 have the TP rocker boxes?

Oh and by the way, whats a good ford forum, i see alot of chevy guys here ,wheres the ford guys?
They're all broken down on the side of the road right now and can't get to a computer to respond to your post.

Due to the sensitivity of the posters in this particular thread I wish to state unequivocally that this is a JOKE response and in no way is meant to incite a Chevy vs. Ford debate. No Fords were harmed in the posting of this thread.:D:lol::D:cheers:

Provider. My most humble apologies. I hope you get the bike squared away. Just seemed to me by the first post you were here to bitch. That's all. After all you had to say and you didn't have a real question.Been here since 06? 08 is more like it and four of the six posts you've made are in this one thread. I really do hope you get this thing right and become a useful member. Good luck. Sounds like you are on the right path.

You've got to be shitting me! Say that to my face and you'll be going to the dentist. Some of you guys are becoming rediculous snobs. This sight used to be fun. I think I'm checking out. (Rode the Big Dog today over the others). Adios!
Branded Calf, Knotso wasn't referring to you or your post, he was talking about rocket as Ray had referred to him as Delly2 in the previous post.

You guys really need to pay attention as to who quotes your posts (referring to you), and who is just posting.

Always gets 'touchy' around here during the winter for the folks that can't ride.
