'06 K-9 Fuel Tank Removal and Installation

I need to remove the tank off my '06 K-9 and am a bit confused with the service manual instructions. I believe the removal is clear - just remove all the components of the front tank mount and slide the tank to the rear, correct?

The installation has me a bit confused. Do I need to do anything with the rear mount? Also, the manual refers to a "tank installation tool".....is this necessary?

Any advice or clear instructions would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to be fumbling around with the tank while I'm taking it off and end up scratching or damaging it. Attached are copies of the manual that refer to the procedure. Thanks.

I drain the gas first, so it's lighter. Stick a rag under the front of the tank, on top of the frame, remove the bolts on the front bracket, slide the tank forward.
Put a little grease on the rear mount when you put it back together.
Thanks for the reply. Do I slide the tank forward toward the handlebars, or to the rear toward the seat? The instructions are stating to slide it rearward.

Pull back and lift up. Watch the speedo on the tank as you pull back and lift. As Mr. Wright says, use a little white lithium grease on the rear mount when installing. The tool is used to push the tank forward to install but most just carefully push with hands.

Got it, thanks guys. I'll be careful to cover everything with rags and towels. The speedo is awful close to the tank so that's a danger spot and I'll make sure to cover the tank with a towel.
