OK, here goes... I got the trans up in 6th gear and now I cant get it to shift down.
I just bought the bike yesterday and was going to ride last night. I was in the shop
sitting still with the engine running. Now no shift of any kind.

Did ya try pushing the bike forward or backward without it running while trying to down shift?

Is the shift arm tight on the tranny?

Lube up the hem joints

YES to all of the above. I rode it before i bought it and it was OK. I did a little cleaning,
adjusted the clutch, adjusted the shifter to fit my feel, swapped plates and started to
ride and bAnG, NO shift. I might get into the trans cover today after church, I go to the
EARLY services :)

Explain adjusted the shifter to fit your feel? What did you adjust?

ALL I "adjusted" was the rod, it was toooooo high for my foot.
So is the foot brake peddle HELL I can't lift my foot that high.
I NEVER touch the spline end of the shifter.

disconnect the shifter from the rod, see if you can shift by pushing /pulling on the rod.
just rock the bike back and forth as you change gears, no need to start engine

You just adjusted it too far down.

Like you said "can't get foot that high" well if you lower the lever too far you can't get enough throw to change the gears on the transmission.

The shifter lever has a very limited range of travel and has stops machined into the billet so the lever isn't really height adjustable as one may think.

Here's a good pic that shows the limited travel...

That is entirely possible that I "lowered" the shifter too far. I didn't know there was that much limitation on
adjustment. I did screw the rod out about as far out as it would go...I'll know for sure in the morning.

I never thought anyone would make something you can't adjust.
IT WAS the shifter pedal down too far. I feel like a Harley owner today!
