Slight delay on the build. I ordered a K9 battery box for Air Ride (Has a metal tab on the bottom to mount the compressor). Wrong box. Second attempt was with BIG Dog...Right box but no Air Ride Tab. They said they no longer offer Air Ride so no need for the tab. So, since my box had the tab I decided to have it Powder Coated. Also, since I was going to the Powder Coating shop, I removed my oil tank (Again) and had it done also. Ready next week I'm told. In the mean time I'll start on the Front Forks, Handlebars, and Hand Controls. Anyway, while talking with Tim (Parts guy) at BIG Dog he told me the new K9's Base Price will be 60K!!! Wow.

What did he say about the warranty contract for the $60g investment?

I need to replace my front Hub Bolts. Everything I'm finding is black oxide. These Bolts don't have a grade but an RC value. Tensile strength of 171,000 psi. Are these a good replacement?
I suppose that all depends on your riding style. Normal riding, no problem. Twist n hang on riding style, still shouldn't be an issue either. Something else should break first. Check with Ace Hardware if ya got one nearby. They have a decent supply of nuts n bolts.

I called a Bolt dealer here in Savannah and he told me he had the same but they were only rated to be torqued to 35 lb. Do you know the torque specs on the hub. Seems like when I did the rear it was 80 ft lbs...but...that's a much larger bolt.

Appreciate it. I found Steel Grade 8, but it was Hex Head. I'll have to say that the hardest part on this Rebuild so far has been in locating all the odds and ends. I bet I've ordered little Bolts 10 times, bolt costing $3.00 and shipping $12. Pulling everything apart I only he'd one bolt I stripped the head on. Luckily it was on the Rotor which I was replacing anyway so I just cut the head off and backed the bolt out with vice grips. But if that's all I have to complain about I guess I've been pretty lucky. So, anyone else considering doing this I've been able to eventually find everything or at least get the piece replated.

I looked, only in Black Oxide. They have stainless, but again the torque values are too low. I can find Grade 8 steel, but wrong head. So, looks like I'll be getting Black oxide.

I just tried to insert my fork tubes into the triple trees. Just barely won't fit. I've put 3 credit cards into the gap to spread it. I'm sure the fact that I had the triple trees chromed is making it more difficult...harder than the aluminum. Anyone have any suggestions?
