Glad you can still ride it. I found this video and the guy explains what could be happening to your transmission. On the example trans he says it's usually 2nd gear that starts to pop from torque but it's a different trans than yours. Same type of trans though. Watch it starting around 20 minutes in and he will explain how it's likely the dogs starting to wear and pop out of gear which bends the forks and down the slippery slope until the trans totally fails. I hope this helps you.
Excellent video!! Very educational !!

I probably shouldn't be riding it! The trans has developed a new symptom. Now when I shift in to third, it immediately shifts in to second. Not to bad when your accelerating, but when you down shift 2 gears at once...pucker factor 1 million!

Mama said I could rebuild the trans when the taxes come in! I will be sending it to Mr. Barnes.

I hope it's not in too bad of shape. Come back and let us know what Barnes had to do to fix it. Good Luck

Something tells me Shaggy has this very problem. Great video to share btw! Thx

Awesome!! Make sure to come back and let us know what they had to do to fix it. Should be very interesting.
Originally I was thinking it was going to be pretty bad...but when taking the trans out last night, the three bolts closest to the primary were loose. One was finger tight, no wrench needed to take it out! So, I am hoping the inside of the trans is in better shape than I thought.

That's wild! A loose trans could definitely affect the shift pawl. I'm surprised the symptoms were not worse. I know it's a lot of work but it may be worth putting it back in and see what happens. It's your time and effort but possibly saving the rebuild cost of a trans that didn't really need it. The R&R will be much faster now that you have experience.

It’s hard to believe you can’t find a tranny guy in AZ. I hope it comes back better than it was. Bike looks good shaggy.

Got the trans back from Barnes Performance Cycles and threw it in. Lowered the a$$ end. New starter, battery, tank mounts. Took her for about a 5 mile test ride. Everything worked great! Glad to have her back!
Looks awesome! Good to hear you are back in action! :chopper:

Looks like you need to spend a 1/2 day polishing lol.
I got my orange ones leaks fixed, inner primary, while I was in there clutch was gone, new clutch, new tranny seal, new top gasket for tranny. Runs like a top. I need a full day of polishing for both bikes I’ve been sweating and dripping on it for a week. Glad your up and running.:chopper::oldthumbsup:
