Clutch actuator ball bearings

I just got my new clutch cable back from Barnett and in the process of installing it. I was just wondering if anyone thinks it's a good idea to replace the ball bearings in the actuator. Even with grease in there, I would imagine that they probably get wore down after 16 years of rolling back and forth.

I looked at mine after 16,000 miles - greased them again with Amsoil grease and put them back in - didn’t see any type of wear

I went to the hardware and bought 3 new 3/8" chrome ball bearings, $1.59 for all three. The old ones seemed ok, but two of them were a little discolored and one had slightly rough surface. I greased everything up good, and put it all back together. The clutch is very smooth and easy to pull now. I realize that this is probably from the new cable, but for $1.59, I figure new ball bearings can't hurt.

I don’t think they are supposed to be chrome - if that coating comes off - it might be an issue.
No experience with those though

I don't think they are chrome plated. It's probably a chrome alloy. Chrome plating on any ball bearing wouldn't last very long.
