Hard to select neutral

Hi Guys
New to the site so any help would be great.
I live here in Ireland where there is about in total 6 Big Dog motorcycles in the whole country.
I imported the K9 from Florida , its the 06 modle and after changing out all oils to the manufacturer spec I finding it very difficult to select the neutral porlsition when I'm out driving.
Any idea?

Good morning and welcome Kieran! Follow the recent link below that references the same issue. I posted a method that worked for me as well as many others. In this thread is also discussion of fluids since you mentioned your issue started ".....after changing out all of the oils to the manufacture spec...." since the manual recommends a certain amount and there are opinions / experience that the manufacture specs for the transmission fluid is too much. I believe the recommendation from members on here is 20 oz vs. 32 as stated in the specs. Others will comment on this I'm sure. Good luck and let us know!

Research and adjust your clutch according to the articles. Then don't freak out - they never go into Neutral when still. The trick is to hit N while its still rolling. Hold in the clutch, downshift to 1st, then let out the clutch right before you stop and it'll slip right into Neutral every time after it warms up.

Best of luck with your chopper. It takes a lot of guts and patience to go it alone like that !!

Have to disagree with the following.... "they never go into Neutral when still". Absolutely not true if you have it adjusted properly. Confident if you take it slow and follow the directions meticulously, (provided there is not a different issue with your clutch) you will be able to slip it into neutral easily and smoothly, even "when still"! Had my 2006 K9 for 13 years and 34,000 miles.

... when I have trouble finding neutral (in any bike while not moving) just rock the bike backwards and forwards while 'searching for neutral'. Shouldn't have to move the bike more than a few inches each way. While doing this, pull in the clutch just enough for disengagement. I have done that for 50 years on all sorts of bikes.... I do it so naturally now, it's almost automatic.
Hand in there, you'll figure it out. And, welcome aboard.!

You know I'm not the sharpest corner of the page here, but my logic says, 'Hi there, new to an oil change, but my import was running so well and finding N was a breeze. But since I changed the oil, and that's all I did mind you, my sore ankle said I better sign up and see if I should ride it for a few hundred miles and let the oil breakdown and wait for the N to come back like it was an import again.
