Bagger

Seems like there is not alot of info on the Big Dog Bagger. Don't see any advertisment for them. Curious, how many were made and for how long? Would these become a rare collector item? Or did they try to compete with Harley? Curious.

I would like to know exact numbers as well, if anyone knows for sure. Also, I remember seeing ads for the bulldog sport, basically the same bike minus the fairing. Did they produce any of these, or did BDM shut down before they got any out to dealers? I keep telling myself that I don't need one. I have a harley with bags for longer trips, but the bulldog bagger is so beautiful! I want one!

Here are the numbers from Matt.

There were 20 2009 Bulldog baggers built. The project numbers range from GED90001 To GED90020.

There were 89 2010 Bulldog Baggers built. The project numbers range from GED10001 to GED10089

These numbers are official on-road, VIN'd motorcycles and do not include any pre or post production builds.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Here is a flyer that came with my Bulldog.
I was the2nd owner and now the 4th owner of build number 23. The first owner was a Doctor up on Michigan who also had a K9.

Never seen that flyer before. Interesting. So looks like there may be only about 109 out there? If so that's not alot.
collector's item!!!!! Even tho about 109 made it out of the kennel, some of those dogs have been laid to rest. I've been told that out of the 15 anniversary baggers that only 9 are still clear titled. Meaning 6 have been either salvaged titled or total lost and scraped out for parts. So, by going by the 109 total baggers that brings you to 103. So how many of the 2010 models have been lost thru the years? These baggers could actually end up being one of the rarest production bikes out there. I just hope that eventually that will bring the price up on these bikes to off set how much it is to keep them kept up and road ready.

Interesting. So my other question is, what year did they start making them, and what year did they stop? So what year would be the anniversary edition?

Looks like the only 2 years they were built are 2009 and 2010. Not a lot of info in the 09 service manual on these bikes either.

The anniversary ones were made in 2009. There were actually 20 made tho if ypu go by the vin numbers but 5 were kinda prototypes. I know one of them went to.S&S cycles so.the could fit the motor and the fuel injection system and kinda mock one up. Someone had told me that it was a rolling chasis tho. No sheet metal. No bags, fairing. But who knows besides the engineers that ran the program. There were 89 with vins in 2010. But BDM supposely had enough frames, motors, electronics to build 125. And if im sure when the plant closed or right bofore hand a few rolled out the door before the bank took everything. But donna and derrick got a bunch of the left over stock from that but i know they dont have any bags or fairing for them and very few of the electrical parts on the EFI systems left. I remember a few months after the plant clising someone was selling a complete bagger but it was all in pieces. But they claimed to have all the parts including bags and fairing to assemble it. Ill try to find the picture that was posted with it. Maybe somebody remebers it.

I remember seeing that white one in parts for sale and I think one other one. To bad there is not a way to find out how many are still titled and on the road. Remember the black one in Michigan the guy bought from someone in Fla. and there were two anniversary ones sitting next to it in a barn? It was posted on here.

Yes i do remember that. And the guy selling the white one had the orange one too. But there is a way to find out how many baggers are left on the road. Go to the local DMV and aak them. But it will only be the ones in the U.S. they cant search overseas bikes. I think a search and print off runs about 50 to 100 dollars.

I did a paper in college about classic cars and tracking their history. And needed to know how many were still titled in the U.S. it was on the 69 camero with a stock 302 chevy small block. And yes chevy did make a 302 before converting to the 305. It was made 1 year only and was exclusive to the 69 cameros. There were 382 chevy cameros made that come stock with a 302 chevy motor. Costed me 50 bucks and 2 weeks wait time to get the info i needed. But that was in 1998. So no telling how much quicker you can get that now and im sure the price has went up.

Again, I think the new BDM, is really missing a great opportunity by not making some of these again.

I would bet the reason BDM is not building baggers is because every one else is. There is a used cycle dealer just down the road from me who probably has 200 baggers on his show room floor. There are too many others on the market and probably at a lower price than a Big Dog would be.
