I’d just go with an open primary from baker, best upgrade that can be done and is much bearer for the transmission with the outter bearing support

Hi Cesad....I have taken the clutch out of my K9 several times and never seen a compensator, mostly because 2007 K9's don't have them. Note below how the primary chain goes directly from the crankshaft pulley (41) to the clutch (not shown).
Harley uses compensator pulleys as a vibration damper--I'm sure some clever guy could devise one for Big Dogs, but I've never seen an example.
Save your Euros--- the Bandit is a very good clutch, but expensive enough, right?image.png

Some clever guys in Sweden have modified the primary cover to accept compensator

Yes that´s us . We made the hole in the front of the primary and put the new derby cover with and o-ring on. There is a complete compensator kit that Big Dog made from 2009-2011 that we bought and installed. We have some kits in stock. It makes a big difference and saves the clutch and transmission.

thanks for the explanation, so do you think with the bandit kit is enought
I'm impressed-had no idea one was available. If you wanted to smooth out some of the vibration, it would sure help. I'd sure like to know what design they used. Is there a schematic available to look at?
The bandit is a good clutch, but won't really address vibration. Having said that, note tens of thousands of BDM's get along fine without it. But if someone made it available to me, I'd probably put in on my bike. Then I could use chrome foot pegs......

Can we get more details and prices and some pics? I'm interested.

Hi Dragon,
I want to do that do my O7 Mastff, would you post some information how you did it and what parts you used.

After two starters, two starter clutches, and two compensators, I added springs to my 03 Fatboy (I know its a HD)
I added bellview springs to make my compensator a solid drive .
No more grinding, runs great and I cannot tell there is more vibration.
btw my 107 SS in my 01 Pitbull has given me zero problems (no compensator):chopper:

Adjusting the clutch on these is a royal pain sometimes. Here is what works for me, after you do the adjustment with the pushrod and button up everything start the bike and put it in first gear and back the bike down a slight incline if you feel any resistance at all start adjusting the cable a 1/4 turn at a time until you feel no resistance when backing down the incline.

Hey guys, I´ll take some more photos and explain it all. This is all original BDM parts. I will lay up everything and show you in the photos. We put the compensator in a bike that had a bandit clutch and it works fine.

Double Bump. Hi Dragon, there are several of us that would like to do this mod, would you please send some info on which parts you used so we can get this done here.

For others reading this thread, I have a 2010 Bulldog bagger which came from the factory with a compensator, it really makes a difference in the ride quality, that's why I want to do the same to my 07 Mastiff.

Sorry guys, I´ve been very busy this winter finishing up our dyno room at Bikehouse Sweden. We have the original compensator kits that was made for BDM. I'll take pictures today on everything and explain it all for you guys. We actually put compensator kit in a K9 that has a Bandit clutch and it works great. There are two kits available. One kit is for 250 tire BDM bikes and the other kit is for 280, 300 and 330 tires.
The offset in the primary is different so that is why. I can really recommend everyone to put the compensator in the clutch. It makes the ride smoother and saves your clutch and transmission. In fact I have never heard of and Big Dog having the clutch basket or transmission broken with the compensator inside but we have changed several clutch basket and mainshafts on Big Dogs without the compensator. I will get back with pictures.
